THE CAMPAIGN:PROUD TO BE SMOKE FREE FULTONThe Fulton County Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) Program launched the Proud To Be Smoke Free Fulton Campaign in 2016 to educate the public about the health hazards of smoking and secondhand smoke exposure, as well as the benefits of creating more smoke-free environments.

Based on Fulton County DataThe PICH Program funded air quality tests around Fulton County and public opinion polls of County residents by Georgia State University School of Public Health that documented the local impact of and attitudes toward public smoking. PICH and its campaign partners use the study results, health data and other pertinent facts to educate business owners, policymakers and the public about the health and financial benefits of smoke-free environments. Their efforts are supported by a promotional campaign utilizing print, broadcast, digital and social media.

Listing Requirements for This GuideEstablishments that agree to adopt smoke-free policies sign a resolution and display the green-and-white Proud To Be Smoke Free Fulton decal on doors and windows. This guide provides a list of those businesses.

• Over 12,000 deaths in Georgia each year are related to cigarette use and secondhand smoke

• Secondhand smoke exposure contributes to 41,000 deaths nationally each year

• Tobacco smoke contains 250 toxic chemicals and carcinogens, including arsenic and cyanide

• Exposure to tobacco smoke raises risks for heart disease, lung cancer, stroke and asthma
