Presented at the annual Technical Working Group meeting hosted by the EA Helped to organise the annual Local Industry Forum, hosted by North Lincolnshire Council. Gave two presentations, one to the local industries, and the other to Public Health England. Offered to give a short presentation on site to local industries to highlight the work these companies have done over the last ten years to improve the local air quality. Examined Air Quality Assessments written by consultancy firms and made comments for the planning department based on my expertise. These included one report written by Air Quality Consultants based in Bristol looking at the planned development for a new football stadium, restaurants and 2500 new houses. My comments highlighted an area where the increase in traffic was likely to bring about a breach of the NO 2 annual mean objective. Specialised skills Four years experience using ADMS-Urban. Over five years experience using GIS, specifically ArcGIS, with published cartography skills. Proficient in using the Openair software within R. Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Matlab, LaTex and BibTeX. Full clean driving licence, car and motorbike. Publication

Skills profilePractical and initiative

Produced a monthly update covering air quality data and the network which was distributed to all of the Environmental Protection team.

Created a better working relationship with the Environment Agency and Tata steel with respect to the issue of PAH concentration in Scunthorpe.

Attempting to keep the extensive air quality network of monitors in North Lincs up and running without having to call out an engineer every time.

Understanding, examining and explaining air quality impact assessments that have been submitted with planning applications.

Organisation Capable of working under pressure. Took control of all aspects of air quality in Scunthorpe, including liaising with

various companies, e.g. Ricardo-AEA (data and website), Bureau Veritas (AURN site), Enviro-Tech (repairs) and NPL (PAH’s and Heavy Metals), as well as an extensive NO2 diffusion tube network.

Completed data analysis using Excel and R, and also using the Volatile Correction Model, calculating the NO2 bias adjustment for the diffusion tube network and using both DMRB and NO2 distance from roads calculator.

Communication Gave presentations to Liaison groups, Technical working groups and Local

Industry forums while representing North Lincolnshire Council as the air quality technical officer.

Produced a scientific poster outlining one aspect of my PhD thesis that was one of two to win a prize and was displayed in the Faculty of Science building at Lancaster University for one year.

Converse appropriately to a variety of audiences in written, verbal and graphical forms, both at work and at university.

Team working and leadership Managed a busy city centre pub with a turnover in excess of £1 m. Worked effectively as part of a team within North Lincolnshire Council and during

group assignments while at university.
