Leicestershire County Council - Highways
Team Manager – Engineering Design - January 2008 - Present
Responsible for a team of 10 and delivery of service objectives through
designing and delivering walking, cycling and bus improvement
schemes, delivering road safety and speed reduction schemes, and
design checks on new development to ensure this is properly integrated
into the transport system. Team also provides project management
support and technical advice across the department. Annual delivery
programmes of circa £2m.
I have also led on the production of the county council’s Network
Management Plan, Transport Planner Training Scheme and an
improvement project across the engineering design group including a
review of the group’s quality management system.
Leicestershire County Council - Transportation
Team Manager – Major Transport Projects - September 2006 - January
2008
Responsible for managing a team of 6 project managing the delivery of
medium and major highway and transport improvement schemes
including: - junction improvements - park and ride - town centre
improvements - environmental improvements. Experience includes: -
major scheme project management - preparation of Department for
Transport (DfT) business cases - conceptual scheme design and
appraisal - public consultations, planning applications and public
inquiries - democratic support for elected members, media and public
relations - Capital programme and developer funded scheme support -
major scheme monitoring.

September 2006
Responsible for project management of medium and major highway
and transportation schemes including: - new road schemes (circa £8M) -
junction improvements - bus priority schemes - park and ride. Prepared
and submitted planning applications, environmental assessments,
compulsory purchase and side road orders; using local planning
documents, PPGs/RPGs, the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
(DMRB) and statutory instruments. Prepared a Statement of Case for a
public inquiry.

Responsible for overseeing delivery of the county council’s Capital
programmes, reporting on progress to the departmental management
team.

I enjoy working with people and helping others to develop. I currently
manage and coach a grass roots football team which I find very
rewarding. I am a qualified FA Level 1 coach and have used my
personal skills to grow and establish a new team that will be joining the
local junior league in the 2015/16 season.
