3. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Wasafiri Consulting Consultant (November 2010- present). Consultancies include: • Designed and facilitated a planning workshop for Christian Aid, ActionAid, BBC Media

Action, King’s College London and the UK Met Office for BRACED Ethiopia (Building Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters).

• Conducted an evaluation of the three year HIV Stigma Reduction Initiative in Ethiopia, Kenya and Zambia (CAFOD and GNP+) (December 2013 – March 2014).

• Conducted a Southern Africa HIV Programming Assessment for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Designed and facilitated a strategy development workshop for participants and developed a regional strategy to strengthen CAFOD’s HIV work in Southern Africa (July – November 2013).

• Designed, project managed and co-facilitated a 5 day Global PPA workshop on Resilience. The workshop had over 25 sessions and 65 participants from 26 different countries. This role included coaching session presenters for the multiple optional sessions (March – May 2013).

• Designed, project managed, co-facilitated a 5 day ‘Community Health for All’ workshop for 35 Christian Aid staff and partners from 9 different countries to strengthen their community health and HIV work. Wrote workshop report (December 2012 – Feb 2013).

• Desk based research for the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). Specifically, the development of guidelines on involving Non State Actors in the planning and implementation of CAADP (November 2010).

Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Research Fellow (Sept 2011 - Dec 2011) • Awarded a travelling fellowship to research how the visual and performance arts

techniques of body mapping and interactive theatre affect the self-perception of people living with HIV; and to gather information on the perceived strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints of these approaches from a wide range of stakeholders in Malawi and South Africa. Impact International Associate Facilitator (July 2011) • Facilitated a community based two-day graduate leadership programme for Deutsche

Bank. Overseas Development Institute Research Consultant (Aug-Sept. 09) • Conducted desk research on the impact of the food, financial and fuel crisis on women

and children in the Middle East and North Africa for the UNICEF-funded project. Co-authored the final research report (available on the ODI website and in paperback).

Christian Aid Consultant for the Evaluation of the SAVE Approach (Oct 08 – May 09) • Developed comprehensive multi-country evaluation framework, data collection tools and

appropriate analysis tools to produce country evaluation reports. • Conducted interviews and focus group discussions with a variety of stakeholders

including government staff, prominent religious leaders, sex workers and other community members in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

• Co-authored a final research report outlining key recommendations for the further roll-out of SAVE (overall report available on AIDSPortal).

• Developed and monitored a 3 country budget for the SAVE evaluation. • Presented research report at an African Religious Leaders conference in Uganda, Aug

2009. UNICEF Facilitator (July 08) • Planned and facilitated a training workshop on HIV and AIDS, stigma, discrimination and

advocacy for young people attending the International AIDS Society Conference in Mexico.

Department for International Development (DFID) Facilitator (Feb 08) • Co-facilitated a two day residential workshop for the DFID CSO Youth Working Group. • Designed and facilitated a session on advocacy. • Involved in creation of a youth companion guide to accompany DFID’s 7 year HIV

strategy.

• Organised, designed and delivered advocacy training on YSRH&R. • Co-produced an advocacy film on YSRH&R in Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Zambia. • Designed and produced two advocacy toolkits: one to educate and train young people in

the UK on YSRH&R in the global south (available on the Restless Development website); the other to encourage MPs and decision makers to include a specific focus on young people in their international development sexual and reproductive health policies.

• Restless Development Zambia HIV Peer Educator (voluntary) (Jan – Sept 04) worked in partnership with a Zambian woman to design and facilitate HIV workshops and organise large-scale health-awareness events.
