RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC EXPERIENCESaint Martin's University, Lacey WA Spring 2014-Senior Research"Characterizing JAtY clones for molecular complementation studies to identifythe PGA 1 gene in Arabisopsis thaliana."

This project was undertaken to identify the Primary Growth Angle 1(PGA1) gene in Arabidopsis thaliana. The PGA1 gene is involved in thegravitropic response of A. thaliana. Transformation-Competent (TAC)JAtY clones containing wild-type arabidopsis DNA in the region of thePGA1 gene were used to look for molecular complementation of themutant phenotype.

Fall 2014-Independent Research"Agar plate method for selection of herbicide resistant Arabidopsis thaliana."

Agar plate selection of herbicide resistant A. thaliana seedlings wasconducted to identify possible transformants. Herbicide resistance alongwith an upright growth angle indicate the presence of JAtY DNA and thepresence of the PGA1 gene in the seedling.
