ABOUT THIS BOOKThis product contains two student booklets. The first one will

ask the students to read CVC words in order to develop phonological awareness and word recognition. The second onewill ask the students to read CVC words in the context of ashort passage.

Each sound in the CVC word is represented by a dot. The students are required to touch each dot and say each sound, then blend the sounds together and read the word.

Example : cat The student has to touch each dot,

say each sound, and then blend the sounds together to readthe word: c - a - t cat

You can use the first booklet with small groups for several days before Guided Reading. You can also place both bookletsin a literacy center for partner reading. The students can also take the booklets home and read them with a parent until theycan read all the CVC words fluently.
