Motion Charades/Pictionary 15 graphing, 15 word problems, 15 act out Note: One tile on the floor is one unit of distance. For the Act out questions, groups must record distance traveled and displacement on the answer sheet. Directions: Split the class into 3 groups: Act Out, Graph and Word Problems. Give each group the 15 slips of paper with their type of problem and an answer sheet (1 per group). [Assign roles within the group if that would work best: group recorder, group organizer, actor, sketcher, etc… ] Give students 15 minutes to complete as many of the tasks as possible. They should record their answers on the group answer sheet. Rotate the groups at 15 minute intervals until all 3 groups have tried each type of challenge. Compare answers as a class and have random groups demonstrate any particularly confusing problems. Assign 1 point per correct response for a max of 45 points. Use as an informal grade. 1. Act out: Move 9 to the left and 4 to the right. 2. Act out: Move 4 to the left, 5 to the right and 1 to the left. 3. Act out: Move 8 to the right, 2 up, 7 to the left and 2 back. 4. Act out: Move 6 to the right, 6 to the left, and 6 to the right. 5. Act out: Walk 4 to the left, 7 to the right and 2 to the left. 6. Act out: Rock from foot to foot 10 times. 7. Act out: Move 4 to the left and 6 to the right. 8. Act out: Move 7 up and 8 back. 9. Act out: 4 to the right, 6 to the right and 1 to the left. 10. Act out: Move 3 up, 4 to the right, 3 back and 7 to the left. 11. Act out: Move 1 up, 1 to the right, 1 back and 1 to the left. 12. Act out: Move 5 to the front, 7 to the left and 5 to the rear. 13. Act out: Move 6 to the left, 4 up, 5 back, 5 to the right, 1 up and 2 to the right. 14. Act out: Move 4 up, 3 to the right, 8 to the left, 3 back, 5 to the right.
