MOTIVATION Imaging is a part

of my job Been doing it for

a while A lot of people

aren’t familiar with imaging

4

INTRODUCTION

Wanting to implement a computer lab or cyber café type environment

Researched freeware similar to Synmatec Ghost and Deep Freeze Clonezilla and SteadyState

Also, Virtual Box

5

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Computer labs have high traffic A lot of chances for viruses,

spyware, malware, etc Updates can sometime mess up

system functionality Need a solution to help lower

downtime and

Page 6: CYBER CAFÉ IMPLEMENTATION

6

PROPOSED SOLUTION Possible solutions to these problems:

Prevent users from downloading or visiting possible attacking sites

Use of Deep freeze / Steady state to revert any changes that are made

If a manual update to the computer from a trusted website cause hardware or software conflicts

Use of imaging to prevent lengthy downtime

Page 7: CYBER CAFÉ IMPLEMENTATION

PROPOSED SOLUTION (cont.) Use of imaging software and

preventative software Implementation is a breeze, easy

software to install and use Little to no training required Easy to test and troubleshoot Results are noticed almost instantly

Page 8: CYBER CAFÉ IMPLEMENTATION

8

RESULTS Very simple to use Very straight forward design on all

products used Anyone in IT is sure to use this Anyone in our Major can benefit from

this software

DEEPFREEZE

Deepfreeze prevents new programs or files to be installed on the harddrive unless you allow access to certain folders

Can allow updates for operating system, anti-virus, etc at a certain time of day

CONCLUSIONS

Results are very apparent over time Use of Synmatec Ghost/Deepfreeze

over Clonezilla/Steadystate is probably more likely in a business

Also practical for a family computer Imaging is the way to go in a

computer lab or cyber café environment

FUTURE WORK Possibly faster imaging

standards or even more linux base freeware
