: S&T talent should be equipped with not only R&D competencies for national technological innovation, but also

leadership competency for social issues and empathy competency to understand other sectors of our society.


Ⅲ. Cyber Research Ethics Training Overview

Purpose1) To strengthen the understanding of research ethics and create a dedicated culture around it

among researchers through online training courses that can be provided to a large number

of users anytime and anywhere

2) To prevent any misconduct and/or malpractice in research in advance and enhance the level

of practice regarding research ethics through case-by-case study

Course overview Customized research ethics training course provided by target subject and field

1) Target subjects: All (potential) researchers who are interested in the research ethics

2) Course hours:2 hours per course

3) Criteria for course completion: Those who have completed 90% of the courses provided (a

mandatory survey included)

4) Course fee:Free

Basic course : Customized curriculum for different subjects

*NSE:Natural Science and Engineering, HSS: Humanities and Social Studies** (Number): Number of sessions

Advanced course : Case study-based curriculum by major

※ For those who have completed the basic course but need to refresh training due to expiration of effective period

(3 years).

***APE:Arts and Physical Education


Ⅳ. Learning Process

Sign-up and Log-in1)Go to KIRD e-learning portal (http://cyber.kird.re.kr) and choose [ENGLISH] for language.

① If you have already joined the Portal, use your ID/PW to log in.

② If not, sign up first to log in.


2) Sign-up process for non-members

① Click the [Sign up] in the [Foreigner] section.

5) Complete the sign-up process

① Congratulations. You have successfully signed up for the KIRD Portal.

② You can now use more services as a KIRD member

Course registration1) Log-in to the Portal and go to Application of Online Education.

① Log-in to the Portal and go to Application of Online Education.

② Enter the course title (“research ethics course”) in the search box and click the Search

button.


2) Check the basic information of the course.

① Click the title of the course that you want to take.

② Check the Course Information and Table of Study Contents.


3) Register for the course.

① Click ‘Course Registration’ button to take the selected course.

② Enter your personal information for the mandatory items.

※ You have to enter your Research ID for the mandatory research ethics course.

❷ Research ethics for principal researchers,

❸ Research ethics for participating researchers,

❹ Advanced research ethics.


Start Learning1) Go to My Page > My Classroom > Study menu

① You can view the study progress rate in real-time during the course.

② You can go directly to a specific point by clicking corresponding title in the table of

contents section on the left part of the screen.

③ After completing the course, you can take a survey for the course.

Complete the course1) Take the survey (mandatory)

① If you reach the required progress rate to complete the course, go to Survey (not

participated) > Participate and answer the survey.

2) Check the progress status

① If you have reached the required progress rate of 90% and completed the survey, the

course is automatically considered complete.

② You can find your progress rate, survey participation, and course completion status in the

home page of the learning section.

3) Issue the course completion certificate

① You can check the status of completion of the courses you have taken, print out the certificate of

completion for the courses, and review the previously-taken courses at My Page > Print Certificate

and Review.
