Chapter 1:

IntroductionCyberLink MagicSports is an integrated multimedia player for sportsvideos. CyberLink MagicSports automatically creates video highlightsof the most memorable moments in sports from your recordedsporting events.

Note: The sports types available in CyberLink MagicSports are dependent on the version and add-on packs installed on your computer.

Navigation ControlsThe navigation bar across the top of the window contains a number of buttons for navigating around the CyberLink MagicSports

program with a mouse. Select the Home icon to return to the

Home page. Select the Back icon to return to a previous page. The Minimize, Full Screen/Window, and Close buttons have standard Windows behavior..

Browsing for Media ContentMedia pages have functions on the left and a content browsing area on the right. Files are displayed as thumbnails (or icons) and organized in folders. Select a folder to display its contents.

If the number of files and folders displayed exceeds one page in the

content browsing area, use the up/down buttons in the lower right corner to scroll through the pages. You can also use the Up/Down arrows on the keyboard to scroll up or down one row, or the Page Up/Page Down keys to scroll up or down an entire page. To

go up one folder level, select the Up One Level icon .

Remote ControlYou can use the remote control with CyberLink MagicSports for convenient media enjoyment from across the room. To control media playback using the remote control, use the dedicated playback

Introduction

control buttons. Most of the buttons behave like those on a consumer DVD player.

Player Controls for Mouse UseTo play a media file, select its thumbnail (or icon) in the content browsing area. The player control panel appears whenever you move the mouse, then automatically disappears several seconds after the mouse stops moving.

Standard playback buttons include Stop, Play/Pause, Previous, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Next. Volume controls include Volume Down, Mute/Speaker On, and Volume Up. Other control buttons vary depending on the type of media being played.

MagicSports

CyberLink MagicSports automatically creates video highlights of themost exciting moments from your recorded sporting events. UsingMagicScene™ analysis technology, CyberLink MagicSportsidentifies and filters out the less exciting moments and non-gamescenes, such as commercials.

After CyberLink MagicSports analyzes your video files, you candecide whether to watch the entire game or just view the highlights.You may also customize your own sports videos, creating ahighlight reel of your favorite moments.

Adding and Analyzing Sports Video

To get started, you must first add your recorded games to CyberLink MagicSports so they can be analyzed.

To add your games to CyberLink MagicSports, select the Sports Type of your video from the content browsing area on the right, then select Play Sports. On the Play Sports page, select Add Game.

Browse through the folders to locate the sports videos you want to add. Select the box next to the sports videos you want to add and then select Apply.

Note: You may preview the recorded sports videos before they are analyzed simply by selecting them. The video will automatically begin playing once selected.

CyberLink MagicSports will begin generating the video highlights of your recorded sports program. An analysis progress indicator is displayed in the bottom left corner of the window.

Once the analysis of your recorded sports program is complete, it will be marked with a green dot. Sports videos marked with an orange dot are either in the process of being analyzed or have not yet been analyzed.

Note: When you select an unanalyzed video, CyberLink MagicSports will automatically begin analyzing the video.

Watching Sports HighlightsTo begin watching your sports highlights in CyberLink MagicSports select the Sports Type of your video from the content browsing area on the right, select Play Sports and then select the analyzed game that you want to watch. The sports video will begin playing from the beginning.

To jump to the first highlight press the Next button. CyberLink MagicSports will take you to the first highlight and indicate the number of available highlights in the top right corner.

Note: After the sports highlight has been played the video will continue to play from that point forward. You must press the Next button again to jump to the next highlight.

To view thumbnails of all the video highlights, select the Video

Highlights button . Use either the Previous Scene or the

Next Scene buttons to quickly scroll to the video highlight you want to view. To begin playing the highlight simply click on the thumbnail.

Making a Sports VideoTo begin customizing your own sports videos, select Make Sports Video on the CyberLink MagicSports main page. In the Make Sports Video page, select the video you want to use for your compilation to open the Set Duration page.

CyberLink MagicSports automatically produces a number of highlight videos that vary in duration, including a Recommended video that contains the most exciting moments.

Note: The Recommended video may not contain all of the highlights created when the video was analyzed, just the most exciting moments. Conversely, the videos that are of a longer duration will include more moments that were not part of the original highlights.

You may also customize your own duration by selecting Customize. By specifying the desired length of the video, CyberLink MagicSports will produce a video with the most exciting moments that fit that duration.

To preview a duration, select it and use the Preview button to view it. Select Change Game if you wish to make a sports video from a different recorded sports program. Select Change Duration to choose a different duration for your compilation.

Add/Drop SceneOnce you have selected the duration that contains all the highlights you want to include in your video, you can further customize your video by adding and dropping scenes.

You can include certain scenes contained in the duration, while leaving unwanted moments out. To do this:

1. Select Add/Drop Scene. 2. Select Play on the control panel. Use the playback buttons to

control playback of the preview. A timeline shows which scenes are included and which are excluded from your video.

3. Select the Include the scenes button or press the keyboard Up arrow at the start of a scene that you prefer to include in your video. (These scenes are colored green.)

4. Click Exclude the scenes button or press the keyboard Down arrow at the start of a scene that you prefer to exclude from your movie. (These scenes are colored red.)

5. Click return to go back to the previous page.

After you have finished customizing your sports video, select Output to File to save it as a new video file. The final outputted video will be displayed on the My Videos page.

SettingsSelecting Settings on the MagicSports page opens a page of options for configuring CyberLink MagicSports.

Selecting Help opens the help system. Video and Audio Settings opens page with options for configuring your display device and your computer’s audio.

Run Setup Wizard opens the wizard that appears the first time you run CyberLink MagicSports, allowing you to optimize your computer if you did not do so after installation. You can also register your copy of CyberLink MagicSports.

Video and Audio Settings

Select Yes for Enhance Video Using CLEV to enable CLEV for CyberLink MagicSports. CLEV (CyberLink Enhanced Video) is a video enhancement technology from CyberLink that dynamically adjusts the brightness, contrast, and saturation if the movie you are watching contains scenes that are overly dark or bright. Options other than Original require more system resources to run.

Select Yes for Reduce Noise Using CLNR to enable CLNR for CyberLink MagicSports. CLNR (CyberLink Noise Reduction) is an audio enhancement technology from CyberLink that analyzes and filters out unwanted high frequency or low frequency background sound.

File Format and Quality allows you to set the file format and quality used by MagicSports video. The higher of quality selected, the larger the outputted video file will become.

Select Video Format and choose the video format for your location.

Select Audio Format and choose the audio format for your computer.

Load Default Settings returns all of the settings in MagicSports to their original values. If you modify any settings on this page, you must select Apply for these changes to take effect.

1. What is MagicSports Football Edition?

Cyberlink MagicSports 2.0 Football Edition is an application designed for football fans to identify highlights and store summaries of the most exciting moments of the games.

2. What languages does MagicSports support?

MagicSports detects your Windows settings to determine which language should be installed on your computer. MagicSports supports the following languages. CyberLink may add more languages from time to time. Please visit the CyberLink Web site to see if there's any language update.

3. What software/hardware should be installed on my PC before I purchase MagicSports?

MagicSports Football Edition requires TV-recorded Football (soccer) videos to create highlights. Therefore, you need to have a TV tuner card (digital or analog) installed in your PC, as well as some software that can record TV, such as PowerCinema or Windows Media Center Edition. The recorded football video clips (in MPEG-2 format) can then be imported into MagicSports

CyberLink MagicSports Football Edition also exists as a plug-in for PowerCinema or Windows Media Center Edition that can be accessed in these programs.

4. What's the difference between MagicSports and MagicDirector?

Cyberlink MagicSports is an application designed for sports fans to identify highlights and store summaries of the most exciting moments of the games.

CyberLink MagicDirector is an automated video editing, authoring and burning suite. It features CyberLink technology that enables you to instantly create completely edited videos with automatically enhanced and cleaned video content.

In short, MagicSports is used for automatically collecting highlights of TV-recorded sports programs while MagicDirector is used for automatically editing and authoring your home videos which are exported from your camcorder or digital camera.

Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz or higher (higher CPU speed will yield higher video quality)

Because of system limitations, Windows XP Service Pack I is required in order to operate the remote control.

DirectX-compatible PCI sound card, USB audio box, or built-in audio device required for audio playback and recording

TV Tuner Card

CyberLink's bundled hybrid TV tuner card has been tested and is recommended for use with MagicSports 2.0. Windows-compatible analog tuner cards with a WDM driver or a digital/hybrid tuner card with a BDA driver may also be compatible.

Features

1. What are the file formats supported by MagicSports?

MagicSports can support the following formats:

MPEG-2: Does not include MPEG-2 TS (transport stream), only program stream MPEG-2.

DVR-MS: video format recorded by Windows Media Center Edition

2. Can MagicSports analyze DRM-protected content?

No, MagicSports accepts only non-DRM video files.

Digital Rights Management (also called Digital Restrictions Management, and often abbreviated to DRM) is the umbrella term referring to any of several technologies used to enforce pre-defined policies for controlling access to digital data (such as software, music, movies) and hardware.

3. Can MagicSports burn DVDs?

No, MagicSports doesn't include a DVD-burning feature. To burn MagicSports videos to a DVD you will need another product such as CyberLink MakeDVD. It is also a plug-in of CyberLink PowerCinema and Windows Media Center Edition. For more information on CyberLink MakeDVD, please go to CyberLink product page.

4. How long does CyberLink MagicSports take to analyze a football game?

It takes approximately 20% of the game duration for analysis. For example, it takes 10~15 minutes to analyze a 60 min football video.

5. How long is the minimum and maximum duration for sports summary?

The minimum duration of sports summary is 30 seconds. For the maximum duration, it can be as long as the original sports duration, but some commercials may be included if the maximum duration is chosen.

6. Can I analyze other sports programs with MagicSports?

MagicSports currently supports football program analyzing only. CyberLink will provide more plug-ins for MagicSports to analyze baseball, American football, sumo or other popular sports in the near future.

7. Can MagicSports analyze home videos that were taken by myself?

No, MagicSports Football Edition currently supports recorded Football program analyzing only. Using MagicSports to analyze a home video will be ineffective. To make a fantastic home video with different kind of styles, please use CyberLink MagicDirector.

How to

1. How to launch MagicSports from PowerCinema 4 or Windows MCE?

If you have PowerCinema 4 (later builds) or your operating system is Windows Media Center Edition, you'll be able to launch MagicSports from them. In the main page of PowerCinema 4 or Windows MCE, select the item Extras, and then select More Programs. In the content area of the right-hand side, select MagicSports to launch the MagicSports program.

2. How to make a sports video?

Click Make Sports Video to make a compilation of sports video highlights with MagicSports. In the Make Sports Video page, select the videos you want to use for your compilation. In the Set Duration page, select a duration for your new compilation. Click Recommended to use the MagicSports recommended duration or click Customize to set your own duration.

After you have selected the duration for your compilation, you can preview it. Click Preview to preview your compilation. Click Change Game if you wish to make a compilation for a different sports video. Click Change Duration to choose a new duration for your compilation. After you have selected your preferred scenes. Click Output to File to save this compilation as a new video file. The final movie appears on the My Videos page.

3. How to add/drop scenes?

You can include certain scenes contained in the video files you have selected, while leaving the rest of the video out. To do this, click Add/Drop Scene, then follow the procedure below:
