Waterlink Way Cycle Path Diversion - Catford
The Waterlink Way is an established part of the National Cycle Network, connecting a number of parks and green spaces in South East London while following the Pool and Ravensbourne Rivers.
In respect to the Catford Stadium Development, the water link way emerges from the underpass adjacent to Catford Bridge station, travels along Adenmore Road and turns under the rail track, through the rail arch into Ladywell Fields.
Due to the construction works diversion of the cycle path will be necessary. The extent of the diversion will vary throughout the construction period, the dates given in the following plans are subject to alteration and are based on the current development program.

SummaryWhilst it is necessary to divert the cycle path away for the construction works, the actual effect to users of the
cycle path will be kept to an absolute minimum.
• For the short duration of the enabling works on Adenmore road (12 weeks) it will be necessary for cyclist to use Ravensbourne road. Barratt London will erect ample signage to warn motorists of the cyclists and ask for consideration. We have also (following feed back from the consultation 10/2/14) requested LBL Highways to install a speed camera or ‘dummy’ along Ravensbourne road facing north as residents and cyclists are concerned about the speed of the vehicles whilst they are traveling up hill.
• One of the Cycling lobby groups who attended the consultation (MR D.Mill) requested we formed a cycle path through the ‘island’ site (adjacent to Catford station rail line on the west of the site, to link Adenmore and Westdown Road). This is not feasible as it would involve approximately 2 weeks work to create once possession of the site is secured, which is anticipated to be at least two weeks after the enabling works commence on Adenmore road. This would result in no cycle path for at least 4 weeks. This would also need to be closed when works commenced on that land in late March / April. The creation of the cycle path would also give rise to concerns over safety as it would be a 150m long unlit corridor with no line of sight through.
• Construction of the Island Site, Block A in late 2016 will be reviewed in due course and where possible the cycle path will remain as close to the permanent route as possible.
• Barratt London will hold review meetings with all stakeholders concerned with the cyclepath, at regular intervals, to improve the implemented and future diversions. The first of which will be booked for about 4 weeks from commencement on site.
• All Construction traffic will be notified regarding the cycle routes before deliveries commence and will be monitored by Barratt London. All intersections between Cyclists and construction traffic on Adenmore or Westdown Road will be managed in accordance with our Traffic Management Policy to reduce the risk to cyclists. Measures will include Banksmen, Barriers (where possible) , fixed mirrors, signage and communication to all vehicles entering and exiting the site. Cyclist signage will also be installed at these Intersection points requesting the cyclist gives way as they would on any other public highway.
