NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!We are currently recruiting adults for some of the numerous volunteerpositions that are necessary to run the swim meets. The children ofCypress Mill will not be able to participate without your help!Contact: Maureen Powell281-304-6958 [email protected]

Tina Strautman 281-213-9732 [email protected] previous experience required• Stroke and Turn Officials: Free training required. This is one of

the most important positions needed. The team will needapproximately 7 officials. This position will watch the swimmersand look for violations in swim stroke and turns.

• Starter: Free training required. The starter will be responsible forthe beginning of each swim heat.

• Referee: Free training required. Referees will be in charge of theswim meet.

• Clerks/Computer: Free training required. These persons willenter swim times throughout the meet. 2-3 persons are needed.

• Announcer: This person should be energetic and will beannouncing the meet events.

• Timers and Scribes: The Timers will time the swimmers and theScribes will record the times. Several persons are needed per meet.

• Concessions: These people must be reliable and can handle money.Two persons are needed per home meet.

Thank you Laura Rucker for hosting our September Recipe Swapmeeting. I hear that the Chocolate Cake was a BIG hit. Go figure,women who would like Chocolate Cake. Thank you, Stephanie foroffering to type up all the recipes so that we can all get a copy ofthem. I look forward to trying something new. Also during ourmeeting Stephanie handed out a copy of the bylaws we would like toput in place for the Ladies Association to follow. Please bring any ofyour concerns or comments to our next meeting.

Speaking of which, our next meeting it will be held by a new memberJennifer Klawinski. We are having a White Elephant Exchange. That’swhere you bring something that is in good working order that you nolonger need or never wanted. Just remember one man’s trash isanother man’s treasure and in some cases one man’s trash is anotherman’s trash. Since the meeting will be in October it will have aHalloween theme. So if you want to, you can come in costume. Ialready know what I am going as. Hope to see you there.

What are the Responsibilitiesof a Block Captain?

We still have several streets without Block Captains. Being a BlockCaptain requires minimal effort. Responsibilities include:• Passing out the directory once a year, as well as, any important

information our HOA Committees may need to convey to all of theresidents.

• Represent your street in any concerns or ideas your neighborsmay have with the board or other HOA committees.

• Promoting and having a block party on National Night Out – thefirst Tuesday of August every year.We meet quarterly to discuss any new ideas on how to make our

neighborhood a better place. Although the meetings are voluntary,they are beneficial, and even if you can’t attend we welcome anycomments or suggestions. length, if the line or leash is held by a human being who is capableof controlling or governing the dog or cat in question; or

2. When it is within a fully enclosed vehicle; or3. When it is on the premises of the custodian and the animal does

not have access to a sidewalk or street.Secure Enclosure: A fenced area or a structure that is locked; iscapable of preventing the entry of the general public; is capable ofpreventing the escape or release of the animal confined therein; andis marked as containing a dangerous dog or a dangerous or restrictedanimal as required by these Regulations.State: The State of TexasStray: Any animal not under restraint as defined by theseRegulations. The display of a vaccination tag or license tag does notchange the fact that the dog or cat is a stray for the purposes of theseRegulations.Unincorporated Harris County: That portion of Harris County that isnot within the incorporated boundaries of a municipality, town, or village.Unprovoked: With respect to an attack by a dog means that the dogwas not hit, kicked, or struck by a person with any object or part of aperson’s body nor was any part of the dog’s body pulled, pinched, orsqueezed by a person.

EGGSHELL GHOST1. Wash out and let dry over night, eggshells from 3-4 eggs2. On a piece of poster board, draw a simple ghost outline about an

8½" by 11" size3. Cut out the ghost and punch a hole at the top4. Draw and color two eyes (and mouth if wanted)5. Put the eggshells in a ziplock baggie and have the kids roll a

canned good can back and forth over the eggs until they arecrushed into an even texture

6. Spread glue over the ghost in sections and let your little onesprinkle the crushed egg all over the glue. Sprinkle until finishedand let your ghost dry.

7. Tie a piece of yarn through the punched hole to hang fordecoration.

Some of the eggshells do fall off, so you may need to find a suitablelocation for hanging your ghosts.Happy Fall!Missy Guion

¼ cup (1/2 stick) butter1 package (10 ½ oz) miniature Marshmallows1 package (4-serving size) JELL-O Gelatin dessert, any flavor12 cups popped popcornI cup candy corn

Microwave butter and marshmallows in largemicrowavable bowl on HIGH 1 ½ to 2 minutes oruntil marshmallows are puffed. Stir in gelatin until wellmixed.

Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn and candy corn in largebowl. Mix lightly until well coated. Shape into 15 balls or othershapes with greased or wet hands. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap andtie with raffia or ribbon if desired.
