A planetary Kitchen GardenMichele Brunello will encourage a reflection on the transition states between the urban, the rural and natural spheres, exploring a zero building architecture and its social, economical and cultural implications. He will present Planetary Kitchen Garden, the conceptplan and masterplan of Milan Expo 2015, developed by the Architectural Consultancy Board (Stefano Boeri, Richard Burdett, Jacques Herzog, William McDonough). Unlike past Expos this project offers to every country the possibility to show and demonstrate their biodiversity, technologies, and solutions in food chain and food production. Sant'Erasmo - Desirable Land is a vision for a small island near Venice, which historically was the kitchen garden of Venice. The shrinking process and aging of population is threading its strong agricultural vocation and it is asking for new sustainable models, where the cycle of nature and agricultural meets the speed of information, knowledge and experimentation. Sant’Erasmo is a desirable land, because it owns all those natural qualities that people are seeking in the urban and metropolitan environment.

Michele Brunello collaborates at IUAV university in Venice and Politecnico di Milano. He has held several lectures and workshops at AA London, TU Graz, TU Luxembourg, HfG Karlsruhe, KAM Creete. Currently he is partner in Stefano Boeri Architetti and, after having coordinated the project in La Maddalena and Milan 2015 Expo Masterplan, he is now partner in charge of all the projects, including the project “D4 Skolkovo”and Wang Fu Jing Project, in Beijing. He is member of urban council of Skolkovo city of innovation, the scientific committee of Sao Paulo Calling and the international architectural festival Festarch. He is a contributor of Domus and Abitare and he has co-edited “Biomilano” and “Effetto Maddalena” by Stefano Boeri. He is founder of the architectural studio DONTSTOP architettura.
