Dear friends,

It is a pleasure for me to address you on behalf of the Czech Chamber of Commerce entrusted with the organisation of the business mission which accompanies the President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Miloš Zeman, on his official visit to Hungary. This mission accompanying Mr. President comprises represent-atives of Czech firms which are no newcomers to the Hungarian market. Those companies are rather experienced, they have im-portant projects and contracts under negotiation, they partici-pate in tendering for contracts in Hungary and/or are planning to sign cooperation agreements during their visit. Czech firms are aware of the fact that Hungary is an important partner of the Czech Republic, since both of our countries are ac-tive members of the Visegrad Group. However, the Czech Repub-lic and Hungary have also very important trade relations – Hun-gary being in the top 10 trading partners of the Czech Republic. Czech companies, whose products and technologies are of a very high standard, would like to be more strongly represent-ed on the Hungarian market – not only as subcontractors in the modernisation of the Paks nuclear power plant but also in other sectors, such as the railways and rail transportation, transport in-frastructure and construction. Other important items of mutual trade are for example the products of the defence and aviation industries. Thanks to the Czech Republic’s industrial tradition and the technological inventions of its people, Czech firms are among the best in the world and can offer globally competitive products and services.I am firmly convinced that this mission will contribute to the fur-ther promotion of mutual trade cooperation between the Czech Republic and Hungary. The companies participating in the mis-sion are among the best and I am pleased that the Czech Cham-ber of Commerce can help support the already existing projects and assist in seeking out new ones.

I wish your forthcoming discussions the best of success.

Vladimír DlouhýPresident of the Czech Chamber of Commerce

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to be able to greet you on the occasion of my state visit to Hungary. I visited Hungary quite recently, in 2017, but at that time it was a working visit on the occasion of the summit of V4 presidents in Szekszárd. The previous state visit of a Czech president took place a long seven years ago. Therefore I am glad to be able to avail myself of the friendly invitation of President Áder and, together with my wife, several ministers and the busi-ness mission, pay a visit to this cultured country with its rich history and refined culinary art. Even though there is no common border between the Czech Republic and Hungary, without hesitation we can consider Hungary as our honorary neighbour. I am persuaded that, for the absolute majority of you, Hungary´s economic environment is nothing new. The Czech Republic has for years been enjoying a long and successful history of mutual trade and investment. This year marks the centenary of the signing of the first agree-ment on the exchange of goods between Hungary and the for-mer Czechoslovakia. This was the first step to the later signing of a bilateral trade agreement. When studying the documents relating to my visit to Hungary I was pleased to see that our two countries have cooperated economically not only on large projects in the area of power engineering, the defence industry and transport, but that, in addition, Czech investments in Hungary cover a much wider area. This I consider to be evidence of the ability of Czech en-trepreneurs to compete on a large scale even in the demanding European markets. Ladies and gentlemen, I hope that you will succeed not only in promoting existing links and meeting new prospective part-ners, but that you will also find some time in your demanding schedule to enjoy the beauties of Budapest and the famous Hungarian cuisine.

I wish you the best of success in all these enterprises.

Miloš ZemanPresident of the Czech Republic
