Building Blocks
(June - August)
Building Blocks establishes class
environment, behavioral
expectations of children,
management and organization
protocols. This introductory unit
teaches principles that provide the
foundation of physical
development of the preschool
child. Some of the motor
development concepts addressed
include body and spatial
awareness, locomotor and non-
locomotor skills, directionality and
pathways, levels, and tempos. To
enhance their social and personal
development, children learn to
follow directions, share, cooperate,
take turns, and experience personal
success through movement in a
group setting.
To have fun, creative
expression and imaginary
play!
To encourage sharing and co-
operative behavior.

awareness, color recognition
and body part identification.

Hoop it up
(August -
November)
This unit provides enjoyable and
creative opportunities for healthy
movement and is the first unit
where children handle and
manipulate a large object by
themselves. Hoops may be used to
instruct children in the concepts of
over, under, around, and through.
They also serve as a “home” to
return to after activity, and develop
hand-eye and general coordination
via spinning and rolling.

Bean Bag Bonanza
(November -
February)
Beanbag Bonanza develops a
multitude of physical skills
including fine/gross motor,
hand/eye, foot/eye and general
coordination, balance, agility, and
creative movement. Children will
also learn to toss, underhand
throw, and catch beanbags and
practice these skills with a partner.
While playing in pairs may initiate
comparisons, providing an
environment void of competition
and encouraging children to
progress at their own pace, better
serves to foster positive social
behaviors, personal skills, and self-
esteem.

(June - August)
This unit focuses on
developing behavioral

the 8 locomotor skills, spatial
awareness, and fundamentals

Basketball Basketball is a great activity for
elementary students, and it is
taught and played in all types
of settings. Basketball involves
a variety of skills that may be
practiced individually, in pairs,
or with groups. The
LEAPSTART Basketball Unit
provides activities for students
to practice and develop
fundamental skills required for
successful game play. Activities
in this unit follow a high-
activity, skill progression which
can be adapted for a variety of
skill levels. Aligned with the
NASPE and state content and
performance standards,
LEAPSTART activities are
designed to include and
challenge all students’ physical
skills, while maintaining
enjoyable, health promoting,
moderate-to-vigorous physical
activity during class

Basketball The LeapStart Basketball Unit
provides activities for students
to practice, develop and apply
skills such as dribbling,
passing, pivoting, and shooting
as well as offensive and
defensive strategies required
for successful game play.
Activities follow the LeapStart
high-activity skill progression
which utilizes small groups,
simplifies rules, and equalizes
play and touches to maximize
student participation and
enjoyment. In addition to
modified and small-sided
games, a unit-culminating
event, The LeapStart Premier
League Basketball, is provided
to generate enthusiasm and
extend learning opportunities.

June 2019. All school Students and Staff participated in the yoga session.

Teacher’s Orientation
(26 June 2019) -: We have conducted Teachers Orientation on 26th June.
We conducted some activities for teachers where the program was
explained to the Teachers and took them through some of the activities
in a Leapstart class. Explained what all we do different in Leapstart
classes. 22 Teachers participated in this activity.
