Relevance
There are many educa$onal reasons that supports par$cipa$ng in Field trips:
Travelling with an “architecture minded group” offers the advantage of sharing one’s interest, knowledge, and passion with others recep$ve to such dialogue, thus enhancing everyone’s experiences and learning. In addi$on, the natural bonding occurred through the trip generates the posi$ve groundwork for successful educa$on back in the studio.
Direct experience of significant architecture, different building customs, other architects and prac$ces, and dissimilar urban/rural environments drama$cally deepen and broaden student’s understanding of architecture at all levels and dimensions (design, historical, technological, theore$cal and professional).

Relevance
Transpor$ng oneself to a foreign land creates a state of openness and high awareness that fosters transforma$ve learning ranging from the very personal and emo$onal to the disciplinary and intellectual. Learning foreign socio-‐cultural customs and norms provides las$ng cri$cal insights into the general nature of communal life as well as a healthy perspec$ve into how they manifest in our own reality.
It is therefore, highly recommended that students have first hand experiences of the interna$onal structures, processes and rela$onships suppor$ng the rapid and worldwide globaliza$on underway.
