The problem
DAD-IS programme relying on project funds Funding came to an end in January 2015 Long-term planning versus short-term funding

Maintenance and development depended on skills of one person that could not be kept due to lack of funds
Never sufficient project funds to instruct another person on the system and to keep the person in the team
Partly outdated technology (PEDs module) Current system cannot be managed any longer

Alternative I: continuation with the existing software environment, training of staff for maintenance
Alternative II: independent new development of DAD-IS with external company
Alternative III: in-house development with existing technology expertise and intensive stakeholder involvement

Increased flexibility – Establishment of virtual country nodes, no further maintenance
costs at national level– Establishment of a virtual European node with improved features
and no data synchronization– Establishment of other regional nodes in future possible on low

Increased sustainability thanks to the use of FENIX services– diversified funding – maintenance and improvements by a multidisciplinary team of
developers and experts– keeping aligned with latest technologies, features and tools
developed under other projects

The involvement of stakeholders
Done:– Several skype meetings with the organizations responsible for
the EFABISnet– Introduction to the FENIX technology (May 2016)– A workshop on the implications for EFABISnet (June, 2016)– Global workshop (July, 2016)
Planned:– Further skype meetings and webinars for information and
training purposes – Testing of the prototype by users with feedback option

New DAD-IS will be available by the end of the project, but–DAD-IS is part of the DAD-IS/EFABISnet–For the applying the new technologies on the complete network specific solutions are needed–For finalization a phase II project might be needed–A phase II project might be used to establish further regional nodes
