1.2 Structure of the safety notes1.2.1 Meaning of signal words

The following table shows the grading and meaning of the signal words for safetynotes.

Signal word Meaning Consequences if disregarded DANGER Imminent hazard Severe or fatal injuries. WARNING Possible dangerous situation Severe or fatal injuries. CAUTION Possible dangerous situation Minor injuries

NOTICE Possible damage to property Damage to the drive system or itsenvironment.

INFORMATION Useful information or tip: Simplifieshandling of the drive system.

1.2.2 Structure of section-related safety notesSection-related safety notes do not apply to a specific action but to several actionspertaining to one subject. The hazard symbols used either indicate a general hazardor a specific hazard. This is the formal structure of a safety note for a specific section:

SIGNAL WORDType and source of hazard.Possible consequence(s) if disregarded.• Measure(s) to prevent the hazard.

ð The DIP switches are correctly set for operation of the DAE72B withMOVIDRIVE® B.

4.4 Measures for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)The DAE70B/71B/72B option is intended for industrial use. A requirement for safe in-stallation is that the electromagnetic compatibility of the entire system is ensured byappropriate measures. The following measures ensure designated operation of theDAE70B/71B/72B option.• Route signal cables and power cables of the inverter in separate cable ducts. The

minimum distance between the cable ducts must be 10 mm.• Use only shielded cables to connect the position and velocity sensors. The cable

for transmitting signals must be suitable for RS485 standard (EIA).• Make sure the shield is connected correctly in the D-sub plug connectors of the

position and velocity sensors and on the sensor end of the cable. Use only metalor metalized connectors.

    • Use only shielded motor cables.• Ensure EMC-compliant installation of the inverter in the vicinity of the

DAE70B/71B/72B option. Observe in particular the cable routing and shielding forthe motor cable and braking resistor connection.

    • Connect the shield of the motor cable, encoder cable, and split cable at both sides(motor and inverter). To do so, remove the cable jacket at an appropriate spot. Un-cover the shield.

    • All inductive consumers (e.g. contactors, valves etc.) near the DCS..B and UCS..Boptions must be equipped with suitable suppressors.

4.5 Connecting the position and velocity sensors4.5.1 Before you start

NOTICEDo not plug in or remove encoder connections during operation.Doing so can cause irreparable damage to the electrical components on the en-coder.• De-energize the connected encoders and any connected devices before plugging

in or removing the encoder connections.

4.5.2 General installation notes for encoders• Maximum length of encoder cables:

100 m with a capacitance per unit length ≤ 120 nF/km.For the maximum encoder cable length, also take into account the length of theconnection cable between encoder signal split box and MOVISAFE®, MOVIAXIS®oder MOVIDRIVE® B.

    • Core cross section: 0,2 – 0,5 mm2

    • Use shielded cables with twisted pair cores. Connect the shield over a wide areaat both ends:– At the encoder in the cable gland or in the encoder connector– At the inverter in the housing of the D-sub connector, or– At the metal clamp/strain relief at the bottom of the encoder signal split box

    • Observe the notes in chapter "Measures for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)".

    • RepairOnly SEW‑EURODRIVE is authorized to repair the DAE70B/71B/72B option.

INFORMATIONAny right to claim under limited warranty becomes void if the user manipulates thedevice internally (e.g. replacing components, welding).

5.2 DisposalObserve currently applicable national regulations.Dispose of the following materials separately in accordance with the country-specificregulations in force, as:• Electronics scrap• Plastics• Sheet metal• Copper

5.3 Replacement of the DAE70B/71B/72B encoder signal split boxProceed as follows:1. Before replacing the DAE70B/71B/72B option, you must de-energize the respect-

ive system (machine) and any devices connected to the DAE70B/71B/72B option.2. Loosen the screws of the D-sub plug connectors of the connected encoder cables.

Remove the encoder cables. Disconnect the temperature sensor from terminalX26, if installed.

    3. Loosen the screws of the shield terminal.4. You can now remove the DAE70B/71B/72B option from the mounting rail and re-

place it with a new option. Make sure that the type of the new option is the same.Make sure the DIP switches 1 – 8 are set correctly when replacing the DAE72Boption.

    5. Re-connect the D-sub plug connectors of the encoder cables to the respectiveplug connectors of the DAE70B/71B/72B option. Screw the D-sub plug connectorsof the encoder cables back on.

    6. Connect the encoder cables to the shield terminal at the DAE70B/71B/72B.Tighten the shield terminal again.

    7. Perform a visual inspection (correct installation, swapped connections, etc.).8. Switch on the voltage supply of the system (machine) and the connected devices.9. Make a function test.21
