Warum rekrutieren?Durch Rahmenbedingungen gefördert
• Reform der Hochschullandschaft(en)• Schaffung einer Konkurrenzsituation• HS zunehmend für eigene Finanzierung verantwortlich
Von HS aktive betrieben, um• Wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs zu gewinnen• Qualität/Passung der ausländischen Studierenden erhöhen• Fächervielfalt zu bewahren (und Studiengänge „aufzufüllen“, die ansonsten schließen
müssten)• Studiengebühren zu erwirtschaften
Rekrutierung steht in Wechselwirkung mit anderen Maßnahmen der Internationalisierung wie Austausch, Forschungszusammenarbeit, Alumni und allgemeiner Imagepflege.
Rekrutierung ist nur eine von vielen Werbemaßnahmen einer HS Abstimmung mit anderen Bereichen notwendig.

- Nobelpreise gewinnen?
- Nachwuchs für die regionale Wirtschaft ausbilden?
- Entwicklungshilfe leisten?
- ...... Wer sind wir? (auf dem Papier / in unserem Selbstverständnis)
Brauchen/wollen wir eine aktive Rekrutierung, was sind ihre Ziele, und was sind wir bereit zu investieren?

„Warum sollen wir uns das antun?“ Reaktionen aus der Hochschule
„Die Qualität unserer Studiengänge spricht für sich, wir brauchen kein Marketing“
„Wir kriegen eh schon so viele Bewerbungen und die Auswahl ist schwierig genug. Warum sollten wir Geld investieren, um uns noch mehr Bewerber aufzuhalsen?“
„Unsere Ausländer brechen doch fast alle ab. Warum sollten wir um solche Leute werben?“
„Für unsere Studiengänge gibt es im Ausland keine Nachfrage.“
