Take the thread of your crochet yarn, coming from the right, in your left hand and pull it over your index finger. Take the yarn from the index finger and pull it through the thumb loop again. Take your thumb out of the loop to form another stitch. Pick up another stitch and repeat this process until you have as many stitches as you need. Now you can start knitting as such.

Knit stitch: The yarn is behind the knitting piece. Put the right needle through the stitch on the left needle. Take the yarn, pull it through the stitch and let it slide off the left needle.Purl stitch: The yarn is always in front of the knitting piece. Insert the right needle from right to left. Pull the yarn from front to back around the right needle and through the stitch.
