HEADLINESBase metals close mainly lower.

BASE metals have closed mostly lower on the Londo

Metal Exchange (LME), pressured in part by a stronge

US dollar, and ahead of the outcome of the U

presidential election. A stronger US dollar and

downbeat tone in the wider financial markets exerte

some downward pressure on base metal price

Monday. Since the metals are denominated in Udollars, their appeal to other currency holders tends t

be dented when the greenback gains. The metals' wid

use in manufacturing and construction also make

them sensitive to broader market sentiment.

Gold and silver prices rebounded smartly at th

domestic bullion market here today on firm buying b

traders and speculators on the back of good loca

buying interest amid wedding as well as advancin

festivals. Good buying was observed after las

weekend's substantial fall and it is expected to peak i

the coming days owing to the festive season
