Access and Information regarding Balochistan Earthquake Affected Areas • The district of Awaran is the hub of Baloch separatist insurgency, the security situation in the

area is challenging.

• Road access is possible via Khuzdar both from Quetta or Karachi/Lasbela using the main road Quetta-Khuzdar-Lasbela-Karachi. However movement remains vulnerable on both routes due to the current security situation. Quetta-Khuzdar-Awaran is a shorter route as compared to the Karachi-Lasbela-Khuzdar-Awaranroute and would be preferable.

• Travel NOCs would be required for international staff. • Reportedly the military has opened an operational center at Khuzdar military garrison to

respond to the emergency. • A meeting at PDMA Balochistan is planned at 3.00pm today in Quetta, to be attended by

humanitarian actors in the region. • Currently, there is no direct presence of INGOs in the affected area one member of an INGO

phased out at the end of last year and several members are present in surrounding areas.
