Dippin’ Dots are a big hit this year at the Ekka.
They are beads of ice cream frozen in liquid nitrogen to form little balls.
There are 10 different flavours: Rainbow Ice, Cookies ‘n’ Cream, Fairy Floss, Bubble Gum, Mango Sorbet, Raspberry Ice, Fudge Nut Crunch, Strawberry Lemonade, S t r a w b e r r y a n d C a r a m e l Brownie.
Between the two Ekka stores, they anticipate selling 50kg-60kg of ice-cream each day.
Dippin’ Dots were first made by Curt Jones, a microbiologist in Kentucky USA 1987.
Now Dippin’ Dots are made in Paducah, Kentucky in the USA.
