Daily Tasks For Aquaponics
Take pH, Ammonia, Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature and Nitrite tests and
feed the fish at least 2 times a day. One time on weekends two if time
allows
pH is blue. Fill test tube to the bottom line (5 mL). Put 8 drops of solution
into the right hand side test tube. Record this reading.
7.0 is optimal
ammonia is yellow. Fill the test tube to the bottom line (5 mL). Put 3 drops
of solution into the right hand side test tube. Record this reading.
.5 is OK
Nitrite is pink. Fill test cube to line and add one packet of granules. Shakefor exactly one minute and allow to sit for 10 minutes before recording.

Probe for the DO meter should have ONLY the blue cap removed. Turn the
meter to the on position. Set it in the tank and allow it to equalize before
reading and recording.

Feed the fish and record it on the feed log
Scrub algae from sides and bottom of tanks with scrub brush. Scrub grids
with scrub brush
If you find any of these reading to be too far off from the previously
mentioned parameters, DO NOT FEED THE FISH. Let supervisor know
IMMEDIATELY.If the water is cloudy at all, DO NOT FEED THE FISH.
If any equipment does not seem to be functioning properly, let supervisor
know IMMEDIATELY.
It is also important to look over the house for any leaks in the plumbing and
consistency of water coming out of the grids.
