Dalai Lamas Visit to the University of San Francisco 4-6 September 2003 San Francisco, California Lone Mountain Campus of USF where the Dalai Lama was hosted Highlights of Dalai Lamas Visit The Dalai Lama came to USF for the beginning of a 16-day, 5-city US tour. At USF he participated in a morning Inter-faith prayer service for 1600 at which he was awarded an honorary doctorate, and conducted a teaching session an afternoon teaching session attended by 5,000. Security is lined up at the entrance to USF for the arrival of His Holiness, the XIVth Dalai Lama Welcome Sign at the Jesuit Community Driveway for the Dalai Lama The Dalai Lama stayed in the Jesuit Community of USF While in San Francisco the Dalai Lama lived with the Jesuits in their community and also hosted smaller groups of dignitaries and followers in the Ricci Room of the Community. A number of the Dalai Lamas entourage and the U.S. State Department security force also stayed in the Community. Fr. Rector Jack Treacy and Fr.
