About the School of DanceThe Conservatory School of Dance provides exceptional dance education with a focus on classical ballet in both our General and Professional programs. Our experienced faculty is dedicated to the growth and progress of the individual student, with comprehensive programming designed to develop technique and foster artistry. We offer opportunities for a variety of students, from those just beginning their dance training through aspiring professionals. Our curriculum includes a unique folk dance program and classes in modern, jazz, and early childhood movement. The School of Dance also offers a highly respected post-secondary Teacher Training Diploma Program.
About the School of MusicFor over 130 years, the School of Music has been inspiring individuals of all ages to pursue their passion for music through vocal and instrumental workshops, classes, private lessons and ensemble training. The Conservatory stands as a testament to the rich artistic heritage and vibrant culture of our city. Offering programs both during the academic year and summer months, the School of Music is proud to highlight its small class sizes, individual attention, and it’s many highly accomplished and qualified faculty members who offer opportunities for children, young adults and youth.

9:00am - 4:00pm, daily Before/after camp supervision available, please inquire for details. In an effort to avoid congestion in the mornings and evenings campers will be emailed a welcome package that will include each student’s arrival and departure times.

Children’s Dance Camps Ages 7-9
For ages 7-9, including those with no experience. Designed for younger children who wish to explore a variety of movement forms, dance classes will include ballet, jazz, modern and more! Camp days will also feature arts and crafts, outdoor play and workshops on everything from creative composition to tap dance.
Available Online Only: July 6-9, daily
Ages 3-4: 9:30am to 10:15am | Ages 5-6:10:30am to 11:30am

Storybook Dance CampAges 3-4 | Ages 5-6
Nurture your child’s creativity as they explore the world of dance and music through classic children’s storybooks and nursery rhymes. Designed for the young dancer, this daily class (delivered via Zoom) introduces children to basic movement concepts, as well as the use of dramatic expression and storytelling through dance.

Youth Dance IntensiveAges 10-13
For ages 10-13, experience recommended. A unique opportunity for young dancers wishing to further their individual strengths and abilities in a supportive environment. Dancers will develop their artistic skills by participating in ballet, jazz, modern, character dance and composition classes tailored to elevate technique and inspire creativity. Workshops throughout the week will also allow them to explore dance history, anatomy and more!

Summer Dance IntensiveAges 12 - 18+
Our two week, full day, ballet-centered programming incorporates a variety of disciplines, which support the development of a versatile dancer.
Areas of study for the two week intensive include daily pilates and mind/body centering classes, classical ballet technique, pointe technique, jazz technique, modern technique, repertoire and variations, composition classes as well as ballet history and jazz history seminars.
Audition videos and physical auditions are only required if the students are auditioning for the full time professional program commencing in September. All audition video’s must be submitted by August 17, 2020 to be considered for the professional program.

Located in Halifax, our studios are steeped in east coast history, providing the perfect backdrop for nationally and internationally renowned teachers to guide students’ artistic growth.
Adult Violin 101 Group Class Series - Improving the BasicsOnline Only: August 4 to September 3

Unlock the mysteries of the violin, and polish your playing technique! Topics will include bow grip, tone production, key strokes, left hand technique, shifting, intonation, and vibrato.

Always wanted to learn how to play the violin? This is your opportunity! In a group setting, you will learn the foundations of playing the violin. This short-term class is the perfect way to get acquainted with string playing.

Tuition: $250 + $20 registration fee For string players up to age 12, with at least two years experience playing violin, viola, or cello. Playing music together is a wonderful opportunity for creativity, fun and friendship. Every day will include chamber music, technique, repertoire, rhythm, movement classes, and outdoor recreation. Weekly highlights include solo concerts, fiddling, improvisation, a masterclass and open-air performances. Registration limited to reflect our new guidelines under Covid-19.

Let’s keep up playing during Summer! Suzuki group lessons for students from Book 1 to Book 4. Let’s review and grow! Using the Suzuki method, we will bring groups of students together for this short-term, 45-minute weekly class.
