“A dandelion mom is strong, resilient, flexible. She blossoms and blooms where ever she finds herself, no matter the conditions. She is also gentle and thoughtful, a dream maker and a wish granter.”

bout once a month, I wake up a little down and wonder if I am doing enough for the site and is it

good enough. Aren’t those questions most moms ask themselves?

But then I think about why I started dandelion moms. It really wasn’t about me so much as it was about the essence of what is a dandelion mom, what it means to live a dandelion existence, and to encourage other women to stay mindful and enjoy the journey because it just goes by too darn fast! Dandelions remind me of childhood, and children have the wonderful ability to be present and in the moment at all times. What a gift!

In this special thrive guide our contributors share tips and inspirations to help you live a life of passion and purpose!

It is my hope that you discover that YOU too are a dandelion mom—beautiful, resilient and strong—and may you continue to blossom and bloom as you bring your special gifts to the world.

n a very lonely day…a day when I felt profoundly anxious and unable to shake the melancholy…I

started sorting through the boxes of art, scraps of notes, and whimsical doodles I collected from my family and friends. One by one, I picked the treasured ephemera up, glancing quickly and hoping that something would warm up my mood and send the blues on their way. Then BAM! There it was the note my daughter slipped under my door when she was little…

“Mom, I love you! You are great! You are wonderful! You are my mom and that is all that matters!” Molly

I snatched it out of the box and held it to my heart. I have been searching and searching for the meaning of my life and there it was so profoundly written on one post-it note. Being a mom is my foundation and the roots from which I can dance on the wind as the dandelions do.

Enjoy this thrive guide—a gift of love for you, a dandelion mom. May you discover the meaning of your life slipped under your door!

andi Zuckerberg has been at the forefront of social media from the very beginning and was a former

marketing executive at Facebook for many years. She started her own company, Dot Complicated, to help parents untangle their busy lives and navigate through the tech world. Her website Dot Complicated is a wealth of information about new apps, helpful devices as well as tips on how to balance it all. This month she released Dot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Lives and Dot! A children’s book that features an adorable little girl who loves all things tech, but learns that it is im-portant to unplug sometimes and go outside to play. I had a chance to speak to Randi about her company and new books.

DM: Tell us what was the inspiration behind writing Dot Complicated?

RZ: Last year, I spent a lot of time traveling and speak-ing to people all over the world. I thought that people would want to talk to me about my time at Facebook or career path, but instead everyone asked me some vari-ant of “When should I give my child a smartphone?” or “How much should I reveal online?” I realized that peo-ple are really struggling to successfully integrate tech-nology into their lives, and that inspired me to share my own complicated journey with technology, as well as offer some pointers, in my new book, Dot Complicated.

DM: What challenges do you think mothers (parents) face today that our parents didn’t have to worry about?
