DWIGHT JR., JAMES A., 63, of Honolulu, died Sept. 11, 1992. He was born in Honolulu and

was retired from the Honolulu Department of Transportation Service. He was a graduate of

Punahou School and University of Hawaii, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Hawaii

Government Employees Association. Survived by wife, Lois C.; mother, Clara T.; sisters, Vera

DYER, DORIS MAY, 72, of Kameuela, Hawaii, died Jan. 25 1992. She was born in Napera

Park, N.Y., and was a teacher in Bakersfield, Calif., Punahou Schools, University Lab School

and Pearl Harbor Elementary School. She helped establish the Church of the Holy Nativity

School in Aina Haina and was the school’s first principal. She retired as curriculum specialist in

language arts for the Department of Education, state of Hawaii and Honolulu District. She was

also a member of the First Baptist Church in Waimea. Survived by husband, Wallace A. Dryer

Sr.; daughters, Karen Sabate of Aiea and Donna Duryea of Montana; sons Wallace A. Jr. of

California and Douglas of Hilo; three grandchildren. Private service held in Montana.

DYER, MARY “GWEM”, 81, of Kealakehe, Kona, Hawaii, died May 2, 1992. She was born in

Chicago and was a retired real estate agent. Survived by son, James of California; daughter,

Mary Voges of California; and sister, Mildred O’Hagan on California; seven grandchildren.

DYER SR., WALLACE ALLAN, 75, OF Kamuela, Hawaii, died May 13, 1992. He was born

in Seattle, Wash., worked for the Star Bulletin as a district Manager and Joined Hawaiian

Airlines in 1941, retiring as a DC-9 captain in 1975. Survived by daughters, Mrs. Earl (Karen D.)

Sabae of Aiea and Mrs. Randall (Donna Dyer) Duryea of Montana; sons, Wallace A. Jr. of

California and Douglas W. of Hilo; three grandchildren. Ashes of his and his late wife were

scattered from a DC-3 over the waters of Waikiki as family and friends looked on from a
