Daniel 1-6 Part 1
Nebi invades Jerusalem
• Nebi invaded Jerusalem and carried away 10,000 people (soldiers, craftsman, only the poorest people were left to work the fields and vineyards).
• Daniel was one of the Hebrew’s carried into exile.
Daniel’s Training in Babylon

the moon god)• Mishael (Who is what God is) • Changed to Meshach (Who is what Aku
is?”• Azariah (The Lord Helps) – • Changed to Abednego (Servant of
Nego/Nebo)
• Daniel was given the ability to interpret dreams.
• Nebi’s dream (2nd year)• Dreams were annulled and filed. The
magicians would have consulted the annuls, while Daniel was given Revelation by God.
• Daniel given the interpretation at night in a dream
Interpretation of Nebi’s Dream
• Large statue, dazzling, awesome, pure gold (Babylon), silver (Medes and Persians), bronze (Greek), iron (Roman Empire), feet of part iron and clay (During this time Christ kingdom will rule forever and ever). Christ is the rock that broke the iron, bronze, clay, and the silver and gold into pieces.
The Image of Gold and the Fiery Furnace
• 90 ft. high, and 9 ft. wide • Made a decree that all would bow
down and worship it at the sound of the music.
• Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego would not bow down.
• Dan. 3:25
Nebi’s Dream of a Tree
• Enormous tree in the middle of the land, touched the sky, beautiful, fruit abundant, but was cut down, destroyed, scattered.
• Nebi was the tree, driven away from people to live with wild animals, seven years, , his kingdom would be restored when you acknowledge who is God of heaven and earth. Nebi recovered and regained his kingdom stronger than before.
The Writing on the Wall • Belshazzar took over as successor to Nebi.• Had a large banquet and called for the goblets that
were taken from the temple.• Allowed everyone to drink from them.• Hand appeared and wrote on the wall,

PersiansThat very night Belshazzar was slain and Darius

Chapter 6
• Daniel and the Lions Den – Daniel violated the decree of prayer– Daniel continued to pray 3 times a day
towards Jerusalem. – Daniel thrown into the Lions Den but was
protected by God. Darius was happy he survived and punished the men who had falsely accused David.

Chapter 7Daniel’s Dream of 4 Beasts
• Lion with Wings = Babylonia626-539 BC• Bear = Ram 539-330 BC Medo-Persia• Leopard = Goat 330-63 BC Greece
– Alexander the Great was the Goat. He conquered the whole known world in 333 BC. (Shatters the two Horns)
– This lion had eagle’s wings, with which to fly upon the prey, denoting the wonderful speed that Nebuchadnezzar made in his conquest of kingdoms
– Alex dies in 323 suddenly his kingdom was divided into 4ths.• Macedon, Greece, Thrace, and Asia Minor • 8:23-25 (1 Horn started small) Antiochus IV Epiphanies

Chapter 8
• Antiochus IV Epiphanes– Determined to destroy Jewish faith– Extended his power over Israel (the beautiful land)– Set himself up to be equal to God.– Ordered sacrifices to end– Judas Macabees recaptured Jerusalem and rededicated
the temple. (The Origin of Hanukkah)• 8:14 “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then
the sanctuary will be reconstructed.”
Chapter 9Daniel’s Prayer
• Daniel prays to God and confesses his sin and the sin of Israel.
• 9: 25-27 Covers a period of 490 yrs.• From the Decree to rebuild the temple to the
coming of the Messiah – He will confirm a covenant with many
• Christ or Anti-Christ• This time period could be symbolic or already fulfilled through
Christ or could later be fulfilled by the actual anti-Christ.
The Seventy Sevens
• The Seventy Sevens– 490 years symbolic numbers of seven year
periods• Finish Transgressions• End to sin (all fulfilled by
Christ)• Atone for wickedness• Bring everlasting righteousness

• Could have all been fulfilled by Christ• Some believe the final 3 are still to
come– Seal up vision– Seal up prophecy– Anoint the Holy one
Chapter 10
– Daniel fasted for 3 weeks (partial fast)
– 24th day 1st month Jesus appeared (Dan. 10:5-6)
– 10:12 Jesus and Michael at war with demonic forces over Persia
Chapter 11The Kings of the South and the North
• 11:3- Alexander the Great dies and his kingdom is split into 4ths.
• Chapter 11 is all about the 4 kingdoms and their squabbles up to the time of the Roman empire in 63 BC
Chapter 12
The End Times• 12:2 – Prophecy of the rapture
(resurrection)• 12:7 – Jesus swore it will be for a ‘time,
times and half a time’• 12:9 – Jesus said, “Go your way Daniel,
because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.”
