OVERVIEW: A flagship store for Prada was developed by creating an interactive experience for visitors. The layout of the space invites people in and creates a circulation path that directs people to the different areas of the store. The patterned screen leads people to the mezzanine level and provides a threshold to an interactive space where there is a runway for fashion shows that interactively display the season’s collection.

OVERVIEW: The existing interior spaces of the homeless shelter were redesigned to promote a sense of community and a safe environment. This was achieved by adding gathering spaces and keeping clear sight lines throughout the building. A warmer atmosphere was also created by using a warm color palette and opening up spaces. This openness ultimately allows for more sleeping space in the shelter.

OVERVIEW: The shading structure was designed for a yoga room. A rhomboid pattern was inspired by trees and the shadows they cast. It was further developed by experimenting with the depth and size of the openings to provide the appropriate amount of glowing light throughout the day.

URBAN PLAN & GALLERY

urban plan& GALLERY

OVERVIEW: With the goal of connecting the train station to the historic center of the Italian town and to a gallery of modern art an urban plan was established. A path to the art gallery was designed to be pedestrian oriented with wider sidewalks, greener spaces and more commercial businesses. The art gallery then became the connection between the modern part of the town and the historic center.

LUMINAIRE AURORA

OVERVIEW: To understand the principles of electric lighting control and distribution a custom luminaire was designed and constructed.

As the Aurora luminaire sits atop a table, it spreads light in four directions. The light reflects inside the shade, producing an indirect glow. The Aurora directs light specifically in four directions for four individuals. Each individual at a four-

team rubiconH.Q.OVERVIEW: The future of the work space is an environment where people have accessibility

to different work modes: collaboration, individual work, relaxation. However, as more vertical surfaces are integrated into the space to separate and define these work modes, the amount of daylight that reaches some of the inner zones diminishes.

The goal of this project is to invert the relationship between the perimeter office spaces that are day-lit and the inner work zones that lack access to daylight. By acknowledging the changing light quality within a space, this design allows the type of lighting environment that best suits each work mode to determine the layout of the office.

CARR FLAGSHIP

carrFLAGSHIP

OVERVIEW: The goal is to design a unique experience that showcases the different elements that are part of the CARR brand by blurring the lines between a gallery, bar, and flagship store. An open floor plan with overlapping spaces merges the art, design, and fashion aspects of the brand, while the Texas heritage shared by the Carr family is represented through materials.

RETAIL: The brand’s image is reinforced by the design of the retail system, which merges the use of materials like wood, metal, leather, and glass. Seating and lighting is also incorporated into the fixtures.

The main gallery space can be used for different event modes. During regular store mode, seating can be set up for customers enjoying drinks from the bar. For art gallery events, modular art partitions take place of the seating in order to display more art.

BAR: The Carr experience allows clients to check out or customize their boots while ordering a drink at the bar. Three programs are merged within, including bar service, boot customization, and transactions. The bar is separated into two spaces, one only houses the bar items and the other the transaction items. The shelving system that separates these spaces has openings that allow for interaction between both spaces.
