Group project where we designed prompts for a project, that led up to a final fashion show, for students in an effort to educate them on wearable/washable fashions and fabrics. Project for Tide detergent, in collaboration with Procter & Gamble Co.

The first prompt is to design and create one deconstructive look, or one minimalistic look.

The second prompt is to use the provided fabric from Mood Fabrics to design and create a look.

The third prompt is to design and create an all white evening gown that is easily washable.

Found an opportunity for growth within the brand, Lululemon. Designed a 2016 swimwear collection for Lululemon yoga enthusiasts. Inspired by, vines, roots, waves, and the supportive wrap of a ballet shoe. At the time, Lululemon did not already have a swimwear line.

ColorBright colors from Lululemon’s already fun palette was the main driver for the S/S 2016 collection as well as pairing them with earth tone neutrals to tie in with the worlds growing love of the outdoors.

Materials

In order to reap all the benefits, and produce the strongest yet most comfortable swimsuits on the market, Lululemon is going to introduce a Lycra/Streamline blend of fabric. The new fabric will have the most stretch, simultaneously providing the most support, dry quickly, and will not be easily destroyed by chlorine. Adding touches of mesh will create a sporty look that’s also easy to move in.

F/W 2016 collection based on fusing two major trends, protection and overexposure, and finding the balance between them.

Inspired by things in nature; mountains and water. Mountains and rocks are dense, and water is clear and highly exposing.

MaterialsThe F/W 2016 collection materials are carefully selected to best represent exposure, and privacy and creating a unity between the two. The heavier weight, thicker fabrics were inspired by protection. Crushed velvet resembles the flow of water, which is a clear substance, and mesh is full exposure, both relating back to overexposure.

Retail Store

Located exclusively in Chicago, Illinois. A stand-alone retail store, made of industrial shipping crates, stacked on top of one another and bolted together -- creating a one of a kind three story structure that houses the current F/W 2016 UN|TY collection. The thick, black, metal crates create a sense of privacy for what’s inside, paired with exposed glass sections that give a sneak peek into the internal merchandise. The UN|TY tags are simple in order to not distract from the clothing. The store bags are completely transparent to help the consumer show off her latest purchases -- similar to what she would be doing on social media by posting a selfie in her new outfit. The merchandise will also be sold direct to the consumer through UN|TY’s online website.
