THE COMMON CORE CURRICULUM
You will notice that the college- and career-readiness standards have been incorporated into the K-12 standards, as was promised in the March 10, 2010 draft. The criteria that we used to develop the college- and career-readiness standards, as well as these K-12 standards are:
• Aligned with college and work expectations; • Include rigorous content and application of knowledge
through high-order skills; • Build upon strengths and lessons of current state
standards; • Informed by top-performing countries, so that all students
are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and,
• Evidence and/or research-based.
THE COMMON CORE
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort to establish a shared set of clear educational standards for courses that states can voluntarily adopt. The standards have been informed by the best available evidence and the highest state standards across the country and globe and designed by a diverse group of teachers, experts, parents, and school administrators, so they reflect both our aspirations for our children and the realities of the classroom. These standards are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to go to college or enter the workforce and that parents, teachers, and students have a clear understanding of what is expected of them. The standards are benchmarked to international standards to guarantee that our students are competitive in the emerging global marketplace.
The Role of Team Leader
Point of Contact for communicating with the team.
Schedules parent conferences
Individual teachers may be contacted by email for specific questions
Carpool
Cars can enter from either Sanderson drive off of Glenwood, or from Oberlin Road.
All pick up and drop off must be done on campus. Do not park in surrounding neighborhoods and ask your child to walk. You will be subject to a ticket by Raleigh PD as the neighborhoods have no stopping/ no standing ordinances.
The Role of Team Parent
To be a liaison between teachers and volunteer parents
Help coordinate activities or special events (as needed) with the team.
