Dante are a five-piece alt folk band from Edinburgh started

by brothers Sean and Liam McLaughlin. Though the band is

essentially the creative product of songwriter Sean

McLaughlin, he has certainly managed surround himself with

Edinburgh's finest; from ex-Aberfeldy member and renowned

Shetland fiddler, Vicky Gray, to the much sought-after

session drummer Michael Field. Dante can also be seen

occasionally utilising members of Edinburgh's Jazz and

Scottish Traditional music scenes to add a variety of

thoughtful and eclectic colours to their folked-up indie

rock

The {Monochrome EP} is the first release from this

Edinburgh-based alternative folk outfit. Mixing

Traditional and contemporary elements, dante draw

on rock and electronica to breathe new life into the

idea of Scottish folk music. Fresh and original song

writing by vocalist and Guitarist Sean McLaughlin is

complimented by a group of stylistically diverse

players who are equally at home creating fiery, upbeat

modern roots music or Grand ambient soundscapes.
