WANT TO BE A RECORD BREAKER?
JOIN US TO SET A NEW RECORD FOR THE WORLD’S LARGEST SUPERMAN DANCE!

AND HELP US RAISE MONEY FOR LIVES RESPONDERS!
We want at least 300 people to take part in an attempt to break the existing record for the
‘World’s Largest Simultaneous Superman Dance’.
When and where is the attempt going to take place?
The record attempt will take place in the North Kesteven District Council car park in Sleaford on
Saturday 5th May 2012.
Who can take part?
Anyone can take part, but to beat the record, dancers must be physically capable of performing

…. ‘At Swim, two boys’
Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th March 2012, Lincoln
Drill Hall, both 8pm
E a rt h fall re turns to the Drill Hall with this
extraordinary piece of physical theatre that tells the
story of the developing love between two Dublin
boys set against the backdrop of the Easter Rising in
1915. The story is based on the book by Jamie
O’Neill and the show includes stunning live and recorded music and, in
a first for the Drill Hall, the entire show is danced in a set that slowly
floods with water, creating some astonishing and thrilling images.
Please note: people in the front couple of rows may get slightly wet!

Primary School Dance Festival
Taking place at Terry O’Toole Theatre on 31st May 2012 at 6pm & 7pm, this is the second
Primary Dance Festival to take place this year! North Kesteven School, in partnership
with artsNK, has worked with local primary schools over 6 weeks in order to create
dance pieces for this festival. Focussing on schools in South Lincoln, North Hykeham
and surrounding areas, these shows will show the audience a celebration of children
dancing in an exploration of themes surrounding transition to secondary school. Also
featuring will be talented students from Key Stages 3, 4 & 5 at NKSchool.

EAST MIDLANDS
The ultimate regional youth dance
platform takes place on Saturday 24
March 2012 at 18:00pm—21:30pm,
Royal Concert Hall, Theatre Square,

It is set to be an explosive evening
as the cream of the region's young
performers showcase their talent.
Hosted by Ben Stacey (of Fresh 101), groups from all over the East Midlands region have
been selected from this year's county events including the following groups who will be
re p re s e n ting Lin c o l n s h i re: Unort h od ox 1 (Branston Community Aca demy) an d
kNacKer'd Youth Dance Company (artsNK).
In addition, special guests at the performance will be: Fresh 101 (artsNK- U.Dance East
Midlands 2011 Selection Panel Winners) For the first time, there will be additional dance
performances by younger Nottinghamshire children (aged 7-11) and groups from across
the region will come together to perform the Big Dance 2012 Schools Pledge ahead of

Adult Musical Theatre Dance Class
Re-launching after Easter on Wednesday 18th April, this class is a must for all of you show
lovers! Come along to a fun and friendly musical theatre dance class- suitable for all dancers
at all levels from beginners to those with experience. The class will focus on the learning of
dance routines from all of your favourite shows, taught by a professional teacher. Takes place
every week on Wednesdays at Terry O’Toole Theatre, NKCentre, Moor Lane, North Hykeham,

artsNK’s popular one-day training course is back for 2012!
Suitable for teachers of key stages 1, 2, & 3, the day features practical workshops aimed at
breaking down the myths about teaching dance to your class! It aims to help build your
understanding, knowledge and skills when working creatively with children, enabling them
to compose, perform and evaluate their dancing. it will allow you to feel more comfortable
in delivering dance activity, from working with Early Years up to Secondary Education.
The course includes lesson themes and ideas, starting points, warm-ups and dance games,
dance activities and sample dance lesson structures. The course is not aimed to transform
you into a professional dancer or choreographer! It will, however, aim to build your
confidence within the dance curriculum and develop creativity within dance education. We
are hoping to banish your worries about teaching dance!
Also suitable for students studying education degrees or PGCE, dance students, and
new/early career dance artists.

If you have already registered your school to take part in the Big Dance School’s Pledge
World Record Attempt, then look out for further news about
twilight teacher training sessions coming soon. Organised by
Dance4, the sessions will be led by a professional dance teacher
and will teach you the School’s Pledge choreography, allowing you
to go back to school and teach your group(s) in good time ready for

Primary School’s Cultural Dance Festival
Three local schools including; Leasingham Primary, Winchelsea Primary and Ruskington Chestnut
Street Primary have all taken part in a dance festival project during term 4, 2012. Each working with a
professional dance artist, children from year 4 in
each school have worked on an Olympic themed
journey- inspiring a rich dance piece and creative
literacy work.

showcase of all of their hard work (including 100+
dancers!) will take place on Wednesday 28th
March at 6.30pm at Chestnut Street Prima ry
School, Chestnut Street, Ruskington, Sleaford,

Get up close and personal with Strictly Come Dancing’s Katya Virshilas
and Pasha Kovalev in an evening of exhibition dance routines featuring
the Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Jive and more. The show, which also
features two exceptional guest dancers, includes a question and answer
session with the Strictly Stars and the chance for young dancers to get
involved.

Closing date 23/03/2012 Salary range: Minimum wage: £6.08 per hourJob descriptionWe are offering an internship to a graduate who is interested in gaining experience of working in the youthdance sector. The Intern will learn about a variety of different areas of the organisation, working at artsNK’soffice in Sleaford. He/she will assist the Dance Development team in the planning, administration andmanagement of various youth dance projects, such as: performances projects, weekly classes, workshops andthe Lincolnshire strand of the National dance initiative based on the 2012 Olympics; Big Dance (seewww.bigdance2012.com)
In addition, he/she will assist with the running of the dance programmes within artsNK and experience arange skills needed for working within the dance industry.
The hours will usually be part-time, 15 hours per week, days and working hours to be agreed. Occasionally,due to the nature of dance work, there will be weekend and evening work necessary.
