Q: Wht do th hg ou

    wt look lik?George (Duvall)

Darcy: The biggest changewe must make is savingthe middle class. In the last8 years, the middle classhas been under relentlessattack, with incomes goingdown while costs haveskyrocketed. Our tax systemis rigged so that the middleclass is subsidizing everyone

else including the twoout o three corporations inAmerica that pay no ederal

income taxes! Its time webrought back economicairness.

    Wht ou tx pl?

    Amanda and Jay (Orting)

Darcy: When elected, thefrst bill I introduce will cutyour taxes. My plan gives

    middle class amiliesmore than $4000

o tax relie. Iyou go to mywebsite: www.darcyburner.com

you can see how itputs money backinto your pocket.

    Q: you ou

    Bill (Black Diamond)

Darcy: My dad enlistedin the Air Force, myhusband Mike is anArmy vet, my brotherJason was in the 101stAirborne and was one

o the frst sent to Iraq.

    I have many cousins who

have served. Thats why I amso determined that those whoserve us with courage anddedication get the respectand benefts they deserve.

    Q:Who i ou ho?

    Yu-Mai (Crossroads)

Darcy: My dad! Our amilywas very blue collar and wenever had much. But my dad

worked hard and he kept our

amily together. From him Ilearned about hard work andloyalty and never giving up.By the way, even though hesa Republican, he really wantsme to win!

    Q: Do ou thik phmit

hould b bl to u to ll

    bith otol pill?

    Delilah (Puyallup)

    Darcy: Absolutely not! My

opponent and I stronglydisagree on this issue. Whena woman comes in with a

valid prescription rom herdoctor or birth control pills, she has the right to havethat prescription flled asany prescription should beflled. Pharmacists havea code o ethics that saysthey must put the needs otheir patients frst. Womenare entitled to make theirown decisions about suchpersonal things.

    Q: Wht w do to d

    th w i Iq?

    Jose (Auburn)

Darcy:The most importantaction citizens can take isto vote or new leaders whoare committed to changingthe Bush war policies. Ishowed that commitment

What does change look like?when, working with generals

and experts, I wrote TheResponsible Plan to End the

War in Iraq. My opponenthas supported Bush warpolicies 100% o the time. I

you want to end the war, weneed new leadership in D.C.

    Q:Im 8 d om o mid th ot votig.

    Wht hould I tll thm?

    Krista (Renton)

Darcy:Tell them thiselection is about themand their uture. Unless

we change course thisNovember, your generation

will be less well o than yourparents generation orthe frst time in Americanhistory. So, or their ownsakes, they need to getinvolved and vote or change

    Q: Thi pig I got lot o

    Joseph (Renton)

Darcy:You paid or them! Those mailers, paid or withour tax dollars, are one wayCongressional incumbentsspend your money to keepthemselves in ofce.

Q:I ou ltd, whto qulit will ou big to

    cog?Lillian (Bellevue)

Darcy: Wow! Good questionId have to say its that I am afghter. All my lie I have hadto fght or whatever I got.

Nothing came easily. So,I learned early on to nevergive up. In representingthe people o the 8th District, thats probably a pretty goodquality to have!

    Our tax system

    is rigged so that

    the middle class

    is subsidizing

    everyone else.

    Its time we brought

    back economic

    fairness.

Dont mess with Darcy.Shes on our side.

Darcy Burner is with us, fghting or change in the treatment o veterans.

VoteVets.org is an organization dedicated to helping returning soldiers.

Darcy Burner, with our input, developed the most comprehensive

and widely-praised plan to counter the Bush administrations ailure to bring

economic and diplomatic power to bear upon the prosecution o the war...

It has earned Darcy the respect o military, political

and oreign policy leaders...I have no doubt that she will bea member o Congress who will fght to make our country better and help

get us out o this war responsibly.

    since President Bush took ofce,

while gas and ood prices haveskyrocketed.

What happened to the middle class?

It used to be a person could

make a living waiting tables ordriving a truck. I remember

working or a small print shop

and making enough to rent a little

apartment and pay my bills. Now

    my riends daughter cant make

enough working two jobs to get her

    own place.

    The great American middle class

is in trouble. Working hard and

playing by the rules is no longer areal path to economic security. Its

    just not that simple anymore.

    The rules arent always air.

    The disastrous fscal policies o

    George Bushsupported by Dave

    Reichertgave special tax breaks

to corporations and the super rich.

    Income or the average American

amily went down $1000 a year

debt o almost $10 trillion and an

    increased reliance on oreign oil.

    Our unsound economic policies

have us in serious fnancial debt to

China and other nations, and our

    good jobs are increasingly going

overseas, while the war in Iraq

    continues to siphon money rom

    important needs here at home.

    Practical solutionsChange is possible, with

practical solutions. I will use my

    business experience to crunch

    the numbers and work towards

    realistic policies to strengthen the

    middle class, invest in economic

    growth or our country, and

    return the government to fscalresponsibility.

    fve years! Thats too much.

We need to invest in clean energy

    here at home.

    This environmentally riendly

    strategy will create jobs, reduce

our dependency on oreign oil and

lower energy costs. I will scrap

    policies that encourage outsourcing

    and manuacturing decline.

    We need to encourage job

creation here at home. We are an

    innovative and hard-working nation

and we can get the job done.

    A super-rich hedge und

    manager like John Paulson

    shouldnt be the only person

enjoying the benefts o our labor.

He made $3.7 billion dollars last

year and he paid a lower tax rate

    than middle-class amilies.

I want to level the playing feld so

    that everyone has the opportunity

    to live the American Dream.

$600The average Bush tax cut or

    the remaining 99%.

$92,000The average Bush tax cut or the top 1%(those making over $462,000 a year)

    To restore fairness to the

    system, while rewarding

those whose income comesfrom work, I support a

    simple proposal doubling

    your standard deduction.

On the campaign trail;cleaning up the GreenRiver; meeting students;Darcys husband Mikeand puppy; Darcy withMike and Henry (age fve)

Ihave been thinking a lot lately about

the difference between the goodnessof community and the excesses of

    government overreach.

Our community was terric to my

family after our house re. So many

people wanted to help, in big and

small ways. One of the best moments

was minutes after we ed, when Henry

was still in his t-shirt and the under-

wear hed been sleeping in. A neighbor

across the street saw us and brought

over a pair of pants, socks, and shoesfor Henry. I have never felt so grateful

    for the kindness of neighbors.

    Community matters.

    Community works together to solve

    problems. But government interfer-

ence with our private lives creates

    problems rather than solving them.

    Respect property rights

We have local government that tries to

control what we do on our own property

even when we do no harm. Like nearlyeveryone I know in our rural areas, I

think the Critical Areas Ordinances go

way too far in taking away private prop-

erty. I was glad to see a court declare

them illegal recently. But in the mean-

time, they are making it much harder for

my family to rebuild our house.

    Respect civil liberties

We have a federal government that

goes to extremes and oversteps eventhe Constitution in trying to control

us. When replacing my handgun, I

    was reminded that during Hurricane

    Katrina, law-abiding citizens had their

guns conscated. I got my concealed

carry permit and learned to use a gun

on the advice of the police when a

stalker threatened my life. My Sec-

    ond Amendment rights to self-defense

    need to be respected.

    Respect private decisions

We have politicians who think thatthey are entitled to make the most per-

sonal of decisions for us. Even access

to something as simple and straightfor

ward as birth control is under attack.

Yes, birth control! My opponent is

one of those politicians who thinks he

should get to decide whether you can

use those little round cases of pills. I

think he should stay out of your busi-

ness. You are entitled to decide for

yourself how many children you want, and when you want them.

There are some basic rules I learned

as a kid that are at stake in this elec-

tion. Everyone should be treated fairly

    As free people, government should

stay out of our private lives. And we

can solve our problems if we stand to-

gether, work hard, and never give up.

Im looking forward to working hard

    for you in Washington, D.C.
