Darden is on the move around the world, expanding its network and impact. Here are highlights of its reach:
CHINACoinciding with the Global Executive MBA China Residency and the Darden.Worldwide. Course to China, Darden hosted the third annual Shanghai Investing Summit and a China Case and Cocktails event in Shanghai. In partnership with the Pudong Institute of Finance, the Shanghai Investing Summit gave investors and executives the chance to con-nect, share ideas on global investments and building invest-ment organizations and identify new opportunities. Case and Cocktails brought together current and incoming students, alumni and the Dean’s Global Advisory Council for a case discussion led by Professor Elliott Weiss on Shanghai’s new Disney theme park.
FRANCEDarden and its Center for Global Initiatives hosted the Paris Leadership Forum in September, in conjunction with the Global Executive MBA Residency in Europe. Over 100 people from 20 different countries attended the Four Seasons George V reception, the capstone event of the forum.
UGANDADarden, in cooperation with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology, offered several Global Consulting Projects that led students to visit and conduct research in Uganda.
Also, through a unique partnership with Distance Education for Africa and Coursera, Darden provided education opportu-nities to more than 100 learners in Africa who were awarded scholarships to take a series of Darden massive open online courses resulting in a business strategy specializa-tion certificate.
BRAZIL, INDIA, SWEDEN AND MOREIn the residential MBA program, 226 students participated in a Darden.Worldwide. Course in 17 different countries during the 2015-2016 academic year.

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIAThomas Jefferson founded the University of Virginia (UVA) in 1819, which he considered to be one of his greatest achievements. Jefferson envisioned a new kind of public university, one dedicated to educating leaders in practical affairs and public service. Three U.S. presidents, James Madison, James Monroe and Jefferson, presided over the laying of the University’s cornerstone in 1817. UVA was the first university in the United States to use the elective course system. The University includes 11 schools in Charlottesville, as well as the College at Wise in southwest Virginia. More than 21,000 students are enrolled at UVA.
