CATHERINE’S CHURCH Saturday July 23 rd , 2016 – 7.30pm Davide Sciacca obtained a Diploma with Honours in Guitar from the IMVB in Catania in 2008, followed by a second level Academic Diploma in Music and Guitar Teaching in 2010. He then went on to achieve a further second level Academic Diploma with honours in Musical Disciplines and Guitar Interpretation and Composition in 2012. In 2013 Davide was awarded a Masters in New Technology for Music from the same institution, and then in 2015, an additional second level Academic Diploma in Chamber Music from the Conservatoire Bellini in Palermo. He has won many international music competitions. Davide’s performances have included solo guitar concerts as well as appearances with chamber music groups, and orchestras. He regularly lectures at Marianatalia Ruscica Marianatalia Ruscica started studying violin under the tuition of Master Lina Uinskyte. In 2012 she earned a Violin Diploma, followed by a post-graduate degree with honours in violin teaching in 2015. She has recently obtained a qualification as violin teacher at the Istituto Musicale ‘'V.Bellini'' in Catania. She has been first violin for various orchestras, including: the Orchestra Giovanile Sinfonica Siciliana, and the Mediterranean Chamber Orchestra, and the ‘Amadeus Orchestra' in United Kingdom. She has also been Lieder violin for the ‘Shine Orchestra’. Whilst playing with these Dario started to play clarinet when he was eight. In 2013 he was admitted to study clarinet and piano at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. In the last three years his talent found expression in a number of inspired performances both at the college in Manchester and in local schools, jazz clubs, and parishes. In order to practise and complete her knowledge in violin techniques, Marianatalia attended various advanced violin courses with the tuition of renowned violinists such as Sergey Girshenko, Mikhail Kopelman, Chris Duindam and Maurizio Sciarretta. She also attended the ‘'Educazione Musicale Audiopercettiva ed Ear Training'' course (musical education, perception and ear training), organised by the “Società Italiana per l'Educazione Musicale”. Marianatalia won various prizes for musical execution as solo musician and in chamber music groups, including 1 st prize at the Giuseppe Lerna international competition in Floridia and in national competitions such as ‘A.M.A. Calabria' in Lamezia Terme, ‘Città di Palermo', ‘Alfio Pulvirenti' in Comiso, ‘Magna Grecia' in Gioiosa Ionica, ‘European Competition city of Syracuse' and ‘Placido Mandanici' in Barcellona Pozzo di

Davide’s performances have included solo guitar concerts as well as appearances with chamber music groups, and orchestras. He regularly lectures at universities in the UK and Italy. Davide currently teaches Guitar and Tablature for Lute at the Conservatoire in Caltanissetta, Sicily. The guitar that he plays is made by the Sicilian master Luthier Flavio Alaimo.

Marianatalia RuscicaMarianatalia Ruscica started studying violin under

She has recently obtained a qualification as violin teacher at the Istituto Musicale ‘'V.Bellini'' in Catania.She has been first violin for various orchestras, including: the Orchestra Giovanile Sinfonica Siciliana, and the Mediterranean Chamber Orchestra, and the ‘Amadeus Orchestra' in United Kingdom. She has also been Lieder violin for the ‘Shine Orchestra’. Whilst playing with these orchestras, Marianatalia had the opportunity to play with famous international artists.Marianatalia has also performed for the broadcasting service “Antenna Sicilia”, “TeleD” and for “BBC Radio Merseyside” in England. In 2012, she was a member of the orchestra for the musical

In 2015, Dario was awarded the Alistair Hanson Young Player Award, and a JRNCM prize for outstanding achievements. In 2015 and 2016 he won the Woodwind Solo class at the Alderley Edge Music Festival.

Marianatalia has various concerts as solo musician to her credit, as well as many performances with chamber groups and as a solo violinist with orchestras in theatres, with cultural associations, at universities and at religious communities.

The Ten Strings DuoViolinist Marianatalia Ruscica and guitarist

Davide Sciacca began their collaboration in 2012. Their intensive work together has led to an extended repertoire of classical works from the early 19th Century including Paganini, Giuliani Coste and Molino as well as more contemporary pieces by composers such as Astor Piazolla, Maximo Diego Pujol, Celso Machado, Laurent Boutros, Giuseppe Torrisi and Andrea Schiavo.

Their concerts are always warmly received by audiences and critics alike; they have participated in classical music seasons organised by prestigious music organisations in theatres, concert halls, heritage sites and civic buildings.

Marianatalia and Davide won 1st Prize at the international Giuseppe Lerna competition, and also at the national competitions AMA Calabria, the Citta di Palermo, Alfio Pulvirenti and Magna Grecia.

From 2014 they appeared in the UK, performing in Manchester, Liverpool, West Lancashire, North Wales and Wirral, and have made numerous TV and Radio appearances at home and in the UK, especially on Linda McDermott’s late night show on BBC Radio Merseyside.
