Data – does it control us?

By Alice Wang

Page 2: Data – does it control us?

Technology is growing

fast as

our want for

increases.convenience

Page 3: Data – does it control us?

Search engines track our keystrokes to

present us with the searches we want

Page 4: Data – does it control us?

Online streaming providers

track what

we watch to suggest things

we may like –and even make

a tv showbased on it

Page 5: Data – does it control us?

Smartphones and social networks allow our

family and friends to track our every movement

Page 6: Data – does it control us?

And we love the attention,

addictedto an ever-changing world.

Page 7: Data – does it control us?

People fearthat we are moving towards a Big Brother society – where we have no

freedom

Page 8: Data – does it control us?

Where data of our past

and experiences will be used

to predict and control our

future

lives

Page 9: Data – does it control us?

But will we allow such a thing? Is it

even possible?

Page 10: Data – does it control us?

It is

human natureto desire freedom

Page 11: Data – does it control us?
Page 12: Data – does it control us?

Trends sharply rise and fall

because we never knew we wanted something…

Until we come up with it

Page 13: Data – does it control us?

Previous generations were perfectly

content with what they had because ambitionsfor more advanced technology didn’t

exist

Page 14: Data – does it control us?

Many horrific

sci-fis were

created when technology first took off

Page 15: Data – does it control us?

But something completely

different has come to pass,

for better or for worse

Page 16: Data – does it control us?

Data cannot control us or our lives.

Page 17: Data – does it control us?

Life has a way of

surprisingus instead.

Whether it

be wonderful

Page 18: Data – does it control us?

Or traumatic

Page 19: Data – does it control us?

We change and adapt in ways that

cannot be

predictedeven by close family

and friends

Page 20: Data – does it control us?

And most of all, we have the

compassion that will help guide us to a

world where everyone is equal and connected

Page 21: Data – does it control us?

and not ruled over

Page 22: Data – does it control us?

Data is powerful –but it is still

only a tool

Page 23: Data – does it control us?

Whether it hinders or helps our growth is up

to us. The power is in

our hands.

Let’s make the most of it.
