Data science provides a myriad of approaches to solve a variety of problems.Recognizing which business needs can be solved by a specific approach isnot always easy. This module will present a framework to identify howto transform business needs into successful data science projects byconsidering the characteristics of your dataset. You will start mastering thefundamental concepts of data science, learn problem types, applicationsand how to define data science projects.

Data science provides various tools and approaches to solve a variety of business problems. In this module, you willlearn fundamental notions and problem types in modern data science. Through real use-cases, you will discover avariety of ways in which you can extract value from your data.

Exercise: Learn how to frame business needs as data science problems. You will be givencase descriptions and data and then guided in the transformation of the cases into projects inwell-known machine learning applications.

This section of the course combines the previous material into a hands-onsession to a data-science process.. This will highlight the key leverage pointsin building and managing data-driven projects from a business perspective. Atraditional business problem will be transformed into a data-driven solution.You will learn how to use design methods to assist you in defining the datascience project.

This module will allow you to understand the managerial implications of a data science project. You will learn how todevelop a strategy for collecting high-quality data, how to benchmark the quality of predictive models and how tomanage the lifecycle of a data-driven model. We will provide key insights into types of innovation that can be achievedwith data science and actual cases demonstrating how predictive analytics can cut costs and improve profits.

Exercise: Build a data collection strategy. Identify and collect the right kind of data to boostthe power of your predictive model. You will receive a description of a business dataset andbe guided by the instructor in identifying relevant data which could be added to the originaldataset.
