Business documents need to be captured, and they need to be readily accessible after they have been captured. Open Text Imaging accommodates both the need to scan documents and the need to view electronic documents.

All companies have to cope with business-critical paper-centric processes, such as order management, accounts payable, and contract management. The speed, precision, and cost-efficiency of each of these processes is driven by integration of structured data (from business applications like SAP or Siebel) and non-structured data (such as incoming paper documents or electronic office documents).

Imaging covers both aspects of business document integration—capturing documents from various sources including scanners, faxes, email, and other office applications, and retrieving documents for users in many different environments, including in remote offices and over the internet.

Imaging is a highly flexible application, supporting interfaces for integration with workflow, Open Text Archive Server, Open Text Content Server and other business applications. Open Text DesktopLink

• The Web Viewer is the new generation viewer that combines the benefits of several technologies and can be used in all Imaging scenarios. Based on Web 2.0 possibilities, Open Text Imaging Web Viewer provides a completely new Web experience for the end user. Zero-client installation reduces TCO and administration efforts dramatically. The Web Viewer is a perfect solution for Internet-based solutions, where clients of many different types and with very different configurations all need access to business documents.

• The Open Text Imaging Java Viewer is a Java applet that can be used for displaying and printing documents in Web-based scenarios, and appending notes and annotations to these documents. It automatically loads on user workstations when a link is clicked to open a document

• The Windows Viewer is a client-side, desktop application that displays archived documents on user workstations. In addition to document display, it supports the TWAIN interface for integration with office scanners, and thus can be used as a low-volume scan client.
