3. Give a unique name to your new Control Connection.4. Fill in the correct Link Topic. The Link Topic is the name of the Processor as it is found in

the OPC Server. This was configured when you Set Up RSLinx.5. Lastly, select the OPC Connection, which is the OPC Server that this Processor is on.

6. To make sure that you configured everything correctly, click . If the TestConnection succeeds, you will see the following message:

7. Once you are finished setting up all Control Connections, click and close.

Set Up Tags (and Triggers)Once you have configured all of your Control Connections, you will be able to set up the Tags thatwill be used by your Transactions. Datamiser gets all of it’s information by monitoring Tags (whichincludes Triggers). Datamiser waits for a Trigger to be toggled on in the Processor, and this causesa Transaction to be fired. Tags can also be stored internally in Datamiser (not from a Processor) tostore information as necessary.

7.1 Get Tag AddressesBefore getting started with setting up Processor Tags, you will need to find the Tag Address for eachtag so that Datamiser knows what Tag to connect to in the Processor. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Open RSLinx and select the Processor that you are setting up Tags for.2. Go to Station > Data Monitor. This will bring up the Data Table Monitor window.

3. As seen in the screenshot above, a list of all Tags in this Processor will be displayed. Let’ssay you want to add a Tag that is at the root (it is not under a section of Tags), such as the ARD_Cycle_Start Tag that is circled. Then your Tag address would simply be the name ofthe tag (in this case, “ARD_Cycle_Start”).

4. However, let’s say you want to add a Tag that is not at the root, such as the PRE Tag that iscircled. In this case, the Tag address would be {GroupName}.{TagName}. So since theGroup name of PRE is ARD_Counter, the Tag address for this Tag would be“ARD_Counter.PRE”.

5. Once you know the address of the Tag you want to create, you can create this Tag inDatamiser.

7.2 Create Tags1. In the Admin tab of the main Datamiser window, click on Tags. The Define Tags window

will pop up.2. To add a new Tag, select the folder you would like to place the new Tag in. There will be a

blank row below all other Tags (or it will be at the top if no other Tags currently exist).

3. Give a unique name to the Tag.4. If you are creating a Tag in Datamiser that references a Tag in a Processor, enter in the

TagAddress. However, if this Tag does not reference a Tag in a Processor (because it ismeant to store data within Datamiser), then you will not need to enter in the TagAddress.Instead, you can check the Internal checkbox so that this Tag is marked for internal useonly.

5. If this tag is a Trigger that fires Transactions, check the Trigger checkbox.

. If the Test Connection succeeds, you will see the following message:

Once you are finished setting up all Tags, click and close.

Set Up a TransactionOnce you have set up your Tags and Triggers, you are ready to set up your Transactions inDatamiser! Once a Trigger is fired, the corresponding Transaction will gather the necessaryinformation and create a Transaction Action if specified. Runtime processes all of its informationthrough Transactions. To set up Transactions, follow these instructions:

1. In the Admin tab of the main Datamiser window, click on Transactions. The DefineTransactions window will pop up.

2. To add a new Transaction, select the folder you would like to place the new Transaction in.

Manager, you will notice the Automatic checkbox. If this is checked, the Action is Automatic, whichmeans that this Action will occur every time the Transaction is fired. If this is unchecked, the Actionis Manual, which means that this Action will only occur if an Automatic Action tells it to. Notice thatwhen Automatic is checked, the Results Options section appears.

These drop-down menus will allow you to select all Manual Actions, which will occur based onwhether the Automatic Action fails or succeeds. For example, let’s say that your Automatic Actionprints a label. If the print succeeds, you may want to write to the database that the print succeeded. If the print fails, you may want to write to the database that there was an error (the printer is out of

paper, the printer is disconnected, etc.). By pressing , you can create the Manual Actionsthat write different things to the database based on whether or not the print succeeded. You canalso have it run custom Stored Procedures. This information is detailed in the following sections.

9.2 Transaction Action for PrintingIf you would like to print something every time the current Transaction’s Trigger is fired, follow thesesteps:

1. In the Transaction Action Manager, click to create a new Transaction Action.2. Make sure the Action Type is set to Print.3. Give the Action a unique Name.4. To print specific information based on the current Tag values, you will have to fill out the

Database Connection, Object Type, and Object Name (and then click ). Forexample, if you had a custom Stored Procedure to grab printing information, thisinformation would be filled out here.

5. Once you have the columns listed, you can enter in a formula for each column orparameter. You can insert Tags or functions by selecting the Formula column and thendouble-clicking on a Tag or Formula in the object viewer.

6. Select the Printer and Template you would like to use. If you need to add Printers orTemplates to Datamiser, make sure that they are added from the Management menu optionin the main Datamiser window.

7. If you would like the Action to print every time the Transaction is fired, make sure youcheck Automatic. Optionally, you may specify additional Actions to occur when the printfails or succeeds by choosing a Manual Action from the On Success and On Failuredropdown menus. You can choose from any Manual Option, allowing you to write to thedatabase or return data to the Processor every time the Transaction is fired. For details, continue reading the next couple of sections.

8. When you are finished editing or creating your Transaction Action, be sure to check
