About Version 12With the proliferation of virtualization into the network infrastructure, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), and cloud-based services, maintainingmaximum network availability and performance is more difficult than ever before. Since problems can occur anywhere along a network path, fromwired or wireless users through layer 2 switches, across the WAN, through the core and into the data center, engineers need full end-to-end visibility. But most performance management systems stop at the site’s edge router. To fill gaps in visibility, network engineers need a combined portable andfixed solution to troubleshoot end-to-end and everything in between.

Fluke Networks’ application-aware network performance management (AANPM) solution offers both fixed and portable components for always-onend-to-end visibility. Simplicity of workflows ensures all members of IT team from front line support to network engineer will benefit from the solution.Fluke Networks AANPM solution extends deeper into your network to go where the problem is including end to end visibility for both the wired andwireless infrastructure.

With OptiView XG version 12, Fluke Networks is announcing the integration of our flagship AANPM products – OptiView XG and Visual TruView. These two products now work seamlessly together – providing network engineers unique end-to-end visibility to quickly isolate and effectively solvenetwork and application problems. The integration of XG’s Path Analysis data into TruView and end-user response time metrics from TruView into XGprovides complete analysis tools whether the engineer is in the NOC or at the end user location.

Unlike some “integrated” products that simply switch user interfaces from one product to another, with OptiView and TruView, data is passed betweenthe tools and presented in the same local user interface, resulting in a smooth workflow within the same tool, getting to root cause fast.

For OptiView users who move frequently between different sites or client networks, as is the case with field technicians/engineers, version 12 providesa new “Profile Management” feature, enabling the user to save instrument settings and tests specific to a particular network environment.

As networks continue to evolve and mature, higher speed links are being deployed more deeply into the network architecture. 10 Gigabit Ethernet –once purely a data center technology – is now working its way into the distribution and access layers as more equipment vendors offer 10G overcopper twisted-pair cabling. XG users can now add the optional OptiView 10GBASE-T Adapter for full network analysis via a standard “RJ-45” networkport.

OptiView XG version 12 also brings enhancements to the automated mapping features announced in version 11, with the ability to instantly mapwireless networks. Additionally, XG users will always be assured of having the latest software code in their analyzer, with the automated ‘check forupdates’ feature.

End User Response Time (EURT) MetricsThrough integration with Visual TruView™, XG users now have full visibility intoEURT metrics by user, site, server and application. A graphical “heat map”instantly pinpoints the application performance problem domain – network orapplication – with the ability to drill down into the real root cause. TruView is aunified application and network performance monitoring and troubleshootingappliance that watches over your global, regional, or even local groups of sitesand users 24/7 by monitoring end-user experience enterprise-wide, time-correlating packet, flow and management data to isolate the cause of performanceproblems.

XG users can leverage their TruView appliance (with version 9 software) with XGVersion 12, which integrates EURT data directly from TruView into the OptiViewuser interface. Unlike some “integrated” products that simply switch user interfacesfrom one product to another, with OptiView and TruView data is instantly passedbetween the tools and presented in the same local user interface, resulting in asmooth workflow within the same tool, getting to root cause fast – giving networkand operations teams more time to focus on critical projects.

EURT is broken down into Application Response Time (ART), Data Transfer Time(DTT) and Network Roundtrip Time (NRT). A count of transactions by applicationand server allows the engineer to gauge the total impact on EURT. TCP healthmetrics (retransmissions, zero windows, out of orders and TCP resets) provideadditional insight into the causes of poor application performance.

When engineers are out troubleshooting in the network – in the access layer, datacenter or remote sites – having EURT data at their fingertips gives themunprecedented visibility across devices, paths, flows and applications, speedingthe resolution of performance problems.

TruView version 9 features the OptiView XG Graphical Path Analysis forend-to-end visibility of network infrastructure health.

Profile ManagementFor engineers who move between sites or different clients, OptiView XG nowenables saving instrument settings as site- or client-specific profiles, speedinginstrument reconfiguration when moving between different networks. This makesXG an even more powerful and convenient tool for systems integrators, consultants, security/compliance auditors and other field teams.

Profile management speeds instrument reconfiguration when movingOptiView between networks.

Wireless Network MappingSave HOURS of manual labor! By enhancing the automated mapping featurereleased in Version 11, OptiView XG can now use data from wireless LANcontrollers (WLCs) to create wireless network connectivity maps. The content ofthe map can be filtered by selecting one or more SSIDs, desired WLAN frequencybands, device and security types. Map details are user configurable, including linkrates, channels used, AP mode and capacity, client count by AP, and more. Wiredinfrastructure connections show the entire network – from end-to-end – so you arenever without updated documentation of your network! Clicking the report iconinstantly generates a Visio document of your displayed map.

10GBASE-T AdapterAs 10 Gig on copper becomes more prevalent, XG users can add this optionaladapter to their analyzer for easy connectivity and testing of 10GBASE-T links. This adapter uses power from both the 1 Gig SFP and 10 Gig SFP+ slots on theXG tablet to drive full line-rate traffic capture and generation on a 10GBASE-T(“RJ-45”) connection.Note: Some early OptiView XG units will require a minor modification by our service center in orderto use the 10 Gig adapter. See ordering information for more information.

AirMagnet SurveyPro v8.6XG users with the optional AirMagnet SurveyPro software can now perform802.11ac surveys. SurveyPro version 8.6 (for PRO and EXPT models of OptiViewXG) is now fully compatible with the latest Wi-Fi technology, 802.11ac. With theuse of an external USB .11ac radio, SurveyPro 8.6 and OptiView XG can be usedto do comprehensive site surveys and simulations for .11ac networks.
