Anti- Bullying

Students have been covering the subject of anti-bullying in form time activities. There is a new app from Childline called FOR ME, which students have been shown and have been encouraged to download it if they have a smart phone. It doesn't just focus on bullying issues, there is also help and guidance on relationships, family life and exam stress to name a few sections. Click here for more information from the website.

Rein Road & Scarborough Street

To ensure the safety of our students, we respectfully ask parents who drop off and collect their children on Rein Road to ensure they comply with the parking restrictions in place. It is prohibited for vehicles to wait on the single yellow line outside school (during the school day) and there is a speed limit of 20mph on the whole length of Rein Road. I would like to thank you for your ongoing consideration of our neighbours when parking on Rein Road or by the Scarborough Street/Lane entrance. Please ensure you take extra care when parking in these areas.

Please also remember that there is no entry to or exit from the main school entrance between 2.55pm and 3.10pm for health and safety reasons (1.55pm and 2.10pm on a Friday).

Parental Contact Details

Please would parents inform school of any changes in contact details, ie mobile numbers, changes of address, priority contact, etc. This ensures we keep school records up-to-date. Thank you.

Non-Uniform Day

Non-Uniform Day is the last day of term, Friday 31 March 2017, and students are asked to contribute £1. Please be aware that students with haircuts which would not usually be deemed appropriate for school should bear in mind that it must be suitable for the return from the Easter holidays. It takes approximately two weeks for each 'grade' to grow. Therefore boys asking for a '0' haircut, can expect it could take until after the Easter holidays for it to be appropriate for school. Students with unsuitable haircuts will be referred to the PSA.

Upcoming Parents’ Evenings

Students will be issued with letters to bring home. We encourage all parents to attend. Please indicate on the appointment schedule, on page 151 in the student planner, the teachers who you wish to see. Appointment times will be allocated by the individual teacher and sent home to you via your son/daughter in their planner.

Lost Property

We do ask that items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name so we can endeavour to return found items to them. However, many items are not labelled and remain unclaimed and, as such, we will be displaying these items next week, in the Main Hall, to enable students to reclaim their property.

This term the ‘Claim Days’ will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 29, 30 and 31 March. Please do encourage your child, if they have lost some of their property, to check to see if it has been found. Any items unclaimed by the end of Friday will be donated to a charity chosen by the school or disposed of.

Boost your attendance in March Year 8 and Year 10 We kindly ask Parents to support our attendance initiative for the month of March. In order to strengthen our already outstanding attendance across the Academy, we have chosen specific year groups on which to focus where attendance can be strengthened even further. In these chosen year groups and form groups, individual and family rewards are available for those students who improve their attendance or who maintain good attendance.
