Last school year, during specials time (art, music, PE, etc.), the specials rotation included a designated time for guidance lessons. For this year, guidance lessons will be incorporated as part of the school day every other week, but it will no longer be a part of the specials rotation. Instead, students will receive additional time dedicated to technology. This will increase formal technology instruction from 30 minutes to 60 minutes per week. We are excited for this change because it will allow increased access to technology, additional learning opportunities about digital citizenship, and will allow us to implement curriculum related to coding. Notes from the Nurse

On September 15th, Hearing Screenings will be performed in grades PK, K, 1, 2, and 5, and students new to Olathe or with IEP’s in grades 3 and 4. Parents will be contacted of students who do not pass the screening. Please feel free to contact Nurse Kristin with any questions. Please consider keeping a change of clothes in the bottom of your student’s backpack no matter their age. Wet playgrounds, milk spills, and other accidents can occur during the school day and having your child’s own clothing ensures that they have clothes that fit. This is all in hopes to keep your child comfortable and you at work! Nurse Kristin is looking for several volunteers to help with Hearing Screenings on September 15th from 8:45 to 11:45. Please e-mail her at [email protected] if you are available to help during that time.

Lunch Menu Change for Monday, August 29th

The district be serving Yogurt and Mini-Blueberry Waffles instead of Mini Pancakes
