Date: May 3, 2020 Coptic Medical Association of North America “CMANA” recommendations regarding COVID-19 pandemic, upon reopening churches: First phase * *Disclaimer: CMANA members are all servants of the Coptic Orthodox Church; our opinions are suggestions based on our medical opinions, experiences, and not in any way binding. The hierarchy of the church, with their wisdom, may modify any and all of these suggestions to suit their churches and the areas they are serving in. I- Planning II- Guidance before coming to church III- Guidance at church I- Planning: 1. Each church ought to have an exact count of those who attend this church. Identify same household members as one family. 2. Divide the congregation, based on the numbers that can be accommodated in the church, into families sitting together in the same pew, while keeping one pew not occupied in between. One idea is to break congregation based on “First letter of the last name of the family” (e.g. A-M in one day and N-Z in another day) 3. Those who attend on one day are not allowed to attend in another day (Keeping the max. number of those who attended below the numbers allowed while leaving intervening pews unoccupied). 4. Block intervening pews with yellow tape to maintain distance 6 feet distance between families. 5. Based on the above calculation and the number of liturgies offered, let families know of the day to attend based on last name or invite families to sign up to attend. 6. Purchase at least 2 touchless forehead infrared digital thermometers for fever screening https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/16/11/10-0703_article 7. Purchase at least 2 large bottles of hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol for cleaning hands https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/show-me-the- science-hand-sanitizer.html
