LIBRARY NEWS
This week we are joining in with “Naonal Simultaneous
Story Time” and we will be sharing the funny book ‘Too
Many Elephants in this House’. We’d beer watch out
or there will be too many elephants in the library! To
prepare for the launch of the 2014 Gold Star Reading
Program please dust off your library cards. If you’re not
a BCC library member, head on down to Mitchelton or
Everton Park library where you can join. Mrs Julie Tree,
from Mitchelton library, will be vising the Prep and Year
1 children to tell them all about the Gold Star Reading
Program. Parents could you please support your child by
providing their library bag and book/s on their borrowing
day. Parents of younger children please remember to
share your child’s library book with them every night and
parents of older children please have a chat with your
child about what they are reading. Remember we need
to read with and to young children every day.
BOOK REPAIRS If your child’s library book gets
damaged or torn at home please return the book with a
note and we will repair it here in the library with our
magic mending tape. As we use a specialised repair tape
for books it can oLen be a hindrance if books are
repaired at home.
READING TIPS! Looking for a great way to help your
child with reading? Then join the local library. It’s a
great me to join and then you can parcipate in the
Gold Star Reading Club!
Happy reading everyone!

Active School Travel Be Active and Walk Safely To School on
Friday 23 May Friday 23 May 2014 is national Walk Safely to School Day. Walk Safely to School Day is an annual event when all Australian primary school children are encouraged to walk safe-ly to school. It promotes road safety, health, and the environment. Being part of the Active School Travel pro-gram, we are already leading by example and encouraging our students to actively travel every week. Being part of a national day also shows our students they are part of a much bigger movement encouraging healthier habits and a greener environment. So join in the fun, be active and healthy, and walk to school with your child on 23 May.
