F SWITZERLAND’S NATURAL WONDERS TO TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY Florens Resort & Suites would like to take the opportunity to give our guests the possibility to explore beyond the spectacular sights of the Lake Brienz region and continue to expose Switzerland as a country in unification. Compiling a list of Switzerland’s Seven Natural Wonders is a daunting task, with so many candidates on offer. Our team came to the conclusion to exclude ones that have been tamed by mankind, such as the Lavaux vineyards, and the many mountain train rides, but there was still quite a choice. O. Where would you choose to go first? The Matterhorn - At 4478 metres (that’s 14,692ft), this triangular mountain literally stands out from the crowd. Not only because of its size but because it sits in solitary isolation, uncluttered by neighboring peaks. That’s why it looks so majestic, and why its crooked peak has become an iconic symbol of Switzerland. Trains and trams take admirers into a glacial paradise for a closer view. Trümmelback Falls – Not to far from Florens the 20,000 tons of rocks and rubble from the Eiger Glacier that are carried through this gorge every year have carved a 10-tiered underground system of pounding waterfalls. Tunnels, platforms, and an ingenious funicular allow visitors to go right inside the mountain and stand within a few feet of the 20,000 liter-per-second flow of icy water. Rhine Falls - Standing on the concrete platform feeling the spray and the roar, you really can tell that these are Europe’s largest waterfalls – 150m wide, 23m high and with 700,000 litres per second going over in the summer peak. Even better is the boat trip out to the island in the middle of the falls. The Eath Pyraminds of Euseigne - are one of Switzerland’s most important geological sights and are protected monuments. The fascinating earth formations at the entrance to the small Valaisian village of Euseigne cannot be overlooked: the valley’s main road leads directly through them. The earth cones are 10 to 15 meters high and most of them are protected by a rock lodged on the top. The cones were created in the end phase of the last Ice Age, about 80,000 to 10,000 years ago. When the ice retreated, glacier tongues left enormous piles of debris behind, which contained boulders. Rain and meltwater gradually freed these boulders. While the water continued to erode and carve out the area surrounding the boulders, these rocks served as protective caps for the soil underneath them, enabling the formation of the well-known natural monuments. What does ‘wellness’ mean to you? Is it perhaps interlinked with physical fitness, or emotional wellbeing? It has come to our attention recently, that the term “wellness” is more often used by Hotels & Resort. But what does this concept truly mean? In 1976 Dr. Bill Hetler developed a model about wellness, that included six dimensions which are believed to be intertwined with each other. Years later Dr. Badri Rickhi added a seventh dimension. Apart from the obvious basic needs, they should represent the key to a individuals happiness. 1. Physical = The ability to maintain a healthy life, allowing us to get through our daily activities without undue fatigue or physical stress. 2. Emotional = Learning to cope with the challenges that life may bring and understanding ourselves better. 3. Social = This is the ability to relate meaningfully to, and connect deeply with other people. 4. Occupational = Finding work that provides more than just an income, but is meaningful and fulfilling. 5. Environmental = The idea is that nature around us can provide us with an organic break from daily life. It is therefore important to recognise and take actions of our own responsibility in regards to the quality of our environment. 6. Intellectual = Keeping our mind open to new ideas and experience, thus evolving and learning new concepts, improving skills and seeking challenges. 7. Spiritual = A deeper subject which relates to the ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives. At Florens Resort your wellbeing is our utmost responsibility and therefore important to us. Therefore we will continuously search for the best suitable ways to fulfil your needs. The Seven Dimensions Of Holistic Wellbeing show that true wellness goes much further then offering a ‘Spa’ or having respect for the environment. It teaches us that social and work is an important aspect of a person’s wellbeing and thus we need to provide in those needs. It is one of the reasons we chose to develop a business centre, to combine work and pleasure effortlessly. While striving on its consistent concept, Interlaken Classics supports young artists from all over the world (residence, masterclasses, Prix du Piano Bern etc.). The centerpiece is the symphony concerts with the” Zakhar Bron” Festival Orchestra and the master classes for violoncello, violin and trumpet. The youthful freshness and dynamic of the young musicians who focus all their energy and enthusiasm on a common objective give the Interlaken Classics a special and unique touch. Interlaken offers an ideal framework for the residency of the orchestras and the master classes as well as for the concerts. It has great infrastructures for rehearsals and concerts in the midst of an inspiring mountain landscape and nature. On Easter Sunday, April 1, three young soloists will perform four instrumental composition type ( known as concerto), including the trumpet concertos by Haydn and Hummel. Artists such as Aleksey Semenenko, Anastasia Kobekina and Manuel Blanco Goméz-Limòn are among the outstanding musical personalities of their generation and thus, are foreseen to cause a great deal of sensation in the concert halls over the next few years. On April 7th and 8th, 2018, the Festival Orchestra will be accompanied in the second concert part by David Garrett with the Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius. In the first half one can enjoy the symphonies named by chords such as “Nos. 4 and 7” by Ludwig van Beethoven. It is therefore with little doubt, that the Interlaken Classics 2018 will once again host a varied and outstanding program. The concert calendar at www.interlaken-classics.ch contains many more information about the artists and their works. several decades as the «Interlaken Music Festival Week», the «Interlaken Classics» are now consistently focusing on top-

level music in the youth field.

FSWITZERLAND’S

NATURAL WONDERS TO TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY

Florens Resort & Suites would like to take the opportunity to give our guests the possibility to explore beyond the spectacular sights of the

Lake Brienz region and continue to expose Switzerland as a country in unification. Compiling a list of Switzerland’s Seven Natural Wonders is a daunting task, with so many candidates on offer. Our team came to the conclusion to exclude ones that have been tamed by mankind, such as the Lavaux vineyards, and the many mountain train rides, but there was

still quite a choice. O. Where would you choose to go first?

The Matterhorn - At 4478 metres (that’s 14,692ft), this triangular mountain literally

stands out from the crowd. Not only because of its size but because it sits in solitary isolation,

uncluttered by neighboring peaks. That’s why it looks so majestic, and why its crooked peak has

become an iconic symbol of Switzerland. Trains and trams take admirers into a glacial paradise for a

closer view.

Trümmelback Falls – Not to far from Florens the 20,000 tons of rocks and

rubble from the Eiger Glacier that are carried through this gorge every year have carved a 10-tiered

underground system of pounding waterfalls. Tunnels, platforms, and an ingenious funicular allow

visitors to go right inside the mountain and stand within a few feet of the 20,000 liter-per-second

flow of icy water.

Rhine Falls- Standing on the concrete platform feeling the spray and the roar, you really

can tell that these are Europe’s largest waterfalls – 150m wide, 23m high and with 700,000 litres per

second going over in the summer peak. Even better is the boat trip out to the island in the middle of

the falls.

The Eath Pyraminds of Euseigne - are one of Switzerland’s most

important geological sights and are protected monuments. The fascinating earth formations at the

entrance to the small Valaisian village of Euseigne cannot be overlooked: the valley’s main road leads

directly through them. The earth cones are 10 to 15 meters high and most of them are protected by a

rock lodged on the top. The cones were created in the end phase of the last Ice Age, about 80,000

to 10,000 years ago.

boulders. Rain and meltwater gradually freed these boulders. While the water continued to erode

and carve out the area surrounding the boulders, these rocks served as protective caps for the soil

underneath them, enabling the formation of the well-known natural monuments.

What does ‘wellness’ mean to you? Is it perhaps interlinked with physical fitness, or emotional wellbeing? It has come to our

attention recently, that the term “wellness” is more often used by Hotels & Resort. But what does this concept truly mean?

In 1976 Dr. Bill Hetler developed a model about wellness, that included six dimensions

which are believed to be intertwined with each other. Years later Dr. Badri Rickhi added a

seventh dimension. Apart from the obvious basic needs, they should represent the key to a

individuals happiness.

1. Physical = The ability to maintain a healthy life, allowing us to get through our

daily activities without undue fatigue or physical stress.

2. Emotional = Learning to cope with the challenges that life may

bring and understanding ourselves better.

but is meaningful and fulfilling.

from daily life. It is therefore important to recognise and take actions of our own

responsibility in regards to the quality of our environment.

and harmony in our lives.

The Seven Dimensions Of Holistic Wellbeing show that true wellness goes much further then

offering a ‘Spa’ or having respect for the environment.

It teaches us that social and work is an important aspect of a person’s wellbeing and thus

we need to provide in those needs. It is one of the reasons we chose to develop a business

centre, to combine work and pleasure effortlessly.

While striving on its consistent concept, Interlaken Classics supports young artists from all

over the world (residence, masterclasses, Prix du Piano Bern etc.).

The centerpiece is the symphony concerts with the” Zakhar Bron” Festival Orchestra and the

master classes for violoncello, violin and trumpet.
