Have you ever been stung by an insect? You probably remember how it felt. It hurts! The two greatest risks from stings are allergic reactions and infections. It is important for you to know what to expect and what to do. This month we will PLAY IT SAFE, by learning first aid for stings and will create our very own after-bite paste.

Female mosquitoes, not the males, are the biters. They just need a sip of blood before they lay their eggs on a pond or other still water. Bees leave their stingers behind. Wasps and yellow jackets don’t. Bee’s stingers are attached to a venom sac. Be careful when you try to remove it.

Natchitoches Parish Junior Livestock Club

The Natchitoches Parish Livestock club provides opportunities for the development of youth through involvement

in an animal project that interests them. It teaches youth how to care for, fit and show their animals. Through the

responsibilities and experiences of livestock projects, youth develop positive character traits.

Congratulations to our parish 4-H livestock members who exhibited at the Natchitoches Parish Fair!

Livestock exhibitors showing at the fair were: Anna Kate Arthur, Haden Churchman, Luke Churchman, Cole

Johnson, Cooper Johnson, Hunter Owens, Abigail Rodriguez, Jordan Rodriguez,

Chad Walker and Matthew Williams.
