THE DELTA BREAKDOWNDelta State will compete in their final home meet of the season as Henderson State and West Florida visit the DSU Aquatics Center. The meet will also have a ceremony prior to the competition to recognize this season’s batch of seniors.

DSU is coming off of a convincing victory over Ouachita Baptist in which wins were secured in 25 of 26 events.

Delta State defeated Henderson State in dual meet action earlier this season from Arkadelphia, Ark., with the Lady Statesmen (No. 5 - CollegeSwimming.com) winning 147 - 80 and the Statesmen (No. 10) claiming the 123 - 120 decision. This will be the first dual meet action between the Lady Statesmen and the West Florida Argonauts - UWF only fields a women’s team. Both HSU and UWF finished behind Delta State in action at the DSU Christmas Invitational.

The Statesmen have seen a few school records fall in recent meets. Yvan Nys has eclipsed his own mark in the 200-Backstroke (1:46.63), while Matthew Swaine has twice set a new mark for six dives from 1 Meter (323.05). The Statesmen have also established a new school record for the 400-Medley Relay (3:18.20).

The Lady Statesmen have rewritten the record books, setting new marks in a dozen events this season. Seven individual records have been established; Melanie Tombers has set four, Anastasia Klyarovskaya owns a pair - including an NCAA D-II record, and Kim Barna has set a record. The Lady Statesmen have also have produced record setting times in five relay events.

WEEKLY MEDIA SERVICESThe Athletic Communications Office produces a weekly release featuring game notes, updated statistics and other pertinent information on the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Swimming & Diving program. Each week’s release will be located in the meet preview story.

PLAYER INTERVIEWSMedia members must adhere to the following guidelines regarding Lady Statesmen player interviews: (1) All player interviews must be coordinated through the Athletic Communications Office; (2) Players are available for interviews, either at the DSU Aquatics Center or via telephone prior to practice (generally 1:30-4:00 p.m.) and following the completion of practice; (3) Please give at least 24 hours notice; (4) No interviews will be allowed on gameday.

COACHES INTERVIEWS Head coach Dan’l Murray and his staff are also available for interviews weekday mornings between 10 a.m. and noon in their offices. Members of the staff will also conduct interviews after the conclusion of practice each day. Please contact the Athletic Communications Office to schedule an interview outside of this time. No interviews will be granted before a game.

PRESS CREDENTIALSRequests for credentials for working press, photographers, television and radio should be made to Matt Jones, Director of Ath-letic Communications. Credentials will be available at the Media Will Call gate located on the west side of DSU Aquatics Center. Credentials should be requested at least seven days in advance of the game. No credentials will be mailed. If there is a special circumstance regarding one or more of the games, please contact the Athletic Communications Office.

RADIO AND TELEVISIONRadio stations planning to originate a broadcast(s) from the DSU Aquatics Center should contact the Director of Athletic Communications at least one week prior to the planned broadcast. Courtesy lines are providied for the official station of the opposing school. Any other line needed will require assistance from DSU Telecommunications.

TELEPHONESThere will be several working media telephone lines located in DSU Aquatics Center for credit card or collect calls. Should you need additional phone services, please contact DSU Telecommunications at (662) 846-4030.

PRACTICEThe Delta State University Statesmen & Lady Statesmen have two facilities in which they practice. Practice begins everyday at 5:30 a.m. with team meetings and actual workouts beginning at 5 p.m. at either the DSU Aquatics Center or Wyatt Gynasium Pool. Practices are open to the media and general public. For more information on practice times, please contact the DSU Athletic Communications Office.
