Father’s Day is fast approaching and is on Sunday
6th September. This year the students will be
making a special gift at school. We ask that each
student please bring $5 to school in a clearly
named and labelled envelope (Eg: Billy Smith, $5
for Fatherr’s Day) by Thursday 3rd September. This
is to cover the cost of the materials for the ‘special
gift’.

SCHOOL VALUES—TEAMWORK
Our school has four values—respect, honesty, teamwork
and care. These reflect a common understanding in our
school community that guide our behaviours and ac#ons
on a daily basis. Each school day it brings a smile to the
teacher’s faces to see so many of our students demon-
stra#ng our values.
Over the coming few weeks I will be publishing a short
summary of each of our values in the school newsle=er.
This week we look at Teamwork.
At school we strive to demonstrate teamwork in the way
that we learn, work and play. The ability to be an effec-
#ve team member is an important skill for students to
develop as many of today’s careers require teamwork in
order to be successful. At school we work with the
students to teach them about what teamwork does and
does not look like. Examples of teamwork which have
been suggested by our students include:
♦ Being able to listen to and consider all group
members ideas.
♦ Understanding that others may have a different
opinion.
♦ Working coopera#vely and in a way that
encourages all group members to par#cipate.
♦ Working coopera#vely in a team to achieve a
successful outcome.
♦ Understanding that in an effec#ve team we may
not always get our own way.
♦ Trea#ng all group members fairly.
♦ Including someone who is feeling ‘leD out’ in a
game or ac#vity.
♦ Being prepared to ‘take one for the team’ even
when feeling hard done by.
CLUSTER ATHLETIC SPORTS (GRADES THREE-SIX)
A reminder that our Athletic Sports Day is next Friday
4th September at the Athletics Complex, Retreat Rd, Flo-
ra Hill. This is for all students in Grades Three-Six and is
always an enjoyable day. Our students will compete
against those from the other Campaspe Cluster schools
in a range of events. Students have also been given the
opportunity to try our for our relay team. Parents are
encouraged to attend on the day and cheer on our
students.
Principal’s Report NAPLAN 2015
Following the NAPLAN tests which were conducted in
May, our school recently received data summarising
our Year Three and Year Five students’ results.
Our school is par#cularly pleased with the growth that
students in Year Five have made since comple#ng the
tests in Year Three. Growth refers to the progress these
students have made over the two year period from May
2013 – May 2015. Those achieving ‘high’ growth have
achieved progress in the top 25% of all students
statewide. Our results are summarised below:
♦ 62.5% of Year Five students achieved ‘high’ growth in
Reading and no students achieved ‘low’ growth.
♦ 50% of Year Five students achieved ‘high’ growth in
Numeracy and no students achieved ‘low’ growth.
♦ 44.4% of Year Five students achieved ‘high’ growth in
Writing and no students achieved ‘low’ growth.
♦ The Year Three writing mean is above the state mean.
♦ The Year Three spelling mean is above the state mean.
♦ The Year Five writing mean is on par with the state
mean.
♦ The Year Five numeracy mean is on par with the state
mean.
Individual Student Reports for students who completed
this year’s NAPLAN tests are now available at the school.
Please note that these reports are not sent home with
the students. We ask that parents please contact their
child’s teacher to collect the report.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
The next mee#ng of our School Council is on Monday
14th September, beginning at 7.00pm. Finance Com-
mi=ee will meet at 6.30pm.

BOOK WEEK DRESS UP ACTIVITY
It is great to hear that many students have already
organised a costume for Book Week. A reminder that
our Book Week Day is next Wednesday 2nd Septem-
ber. This year’s theme is ’Books Light up our World’.
Students are able to come to school dressed as their
favourite book character or in a costume related to
the theme on this day.
We will be having a short parade of costumes at
9.00am on this day. Parents are welcome to come
dressed in costume and join in our
parade.
Dear Parents,
This year we will be
par#cipa#ng in the
Woolworths Earn & Learn

worths Earn & Learn S#cker for every $10
spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and giD

S#cker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn S#ck-
